I would love to have a beer with Wayne and talk about it. In saying that I agree with championshipV.... To me it is about how you feel when someone you love leaves you, either in a break-up, missing out on telling someone you love them or losing a relative. The word disintegrate is an awesome one for the context and vi\be of the song(re The Cure :) ) and repeating it over and over again makes one feel sadder and sadder :) |

To me the "fight" references are related to a figurative fight for a girls affection. The song to me is about a guy who loves a girl, wont tell her about his feelings, and lets life roll on confident that if ever he did, he would get the girl. He misses his opportunity, sees the girl he loves go to another guy. The chorus goes into detail about the mysteries of life and nature ( the line about sunbeams end, starlights begin being a metaphor for the transition between liking and loving a girl). I could go on, but wont. I too heard the Father to Son similarities the first time I heard it, but the lyrics are great, and I love this song and the band. |

I agree a great song. Swings from anger against the former love (you are inferior to me) to self (ironic?) doubt (superior in all aspects to me). The fact he song rocks as well helps... |

Either a hopeful or a sadly reflective song about a lost love. Great stuff for any lovestruck teen. THe acoustic version on Weed Forstin has that fragile atmosphere that makes it a pretty and sad song. |

To me it is a love song, but that was based on me being an adolescent at the time and not having the complete lyrics. In hindsight it is probably another of Barlows Porn songs, probably based on some films he was watching as a young adult pre Dinosaur Jnr... :) |
