No Doubt – Don't Speak Lyrics 13 years ago
this song is about gwen's break up with tony. she said so in interviews. she wrote some of the lyrics on his computer when it was obvious that he wanted to break up with her. i think the fruit in the video is a reference to their relationship b/c it was forbidden fruit for any of the male band members to date gwen, but then one did....and it was bound to complicated...and was.

I really think this song is about addiction. Getting high was good for a while, but then it just turned into a disease that ruined his life.

i listened to this a lot during my thrid trimester of pregnancy. then during birth i got a rare blood disorder that almost killed me and while i was recovering in the hospital for 2 and a half months, i listened to this song and it helped me deal w/ the emotional aspects of my situations. everything sucked, but it could have been worse. and hey, i didn't have to work.

"Done me wrong" country song. But far less annoying than Hank Williams!

This is a cute song. I read somewhere that it is about Chris Thile's younger brother.

Nickel Creek – Speak Lyrics 21 years ago
Um. I think this is about a guy who is trying to catch a girl, but he is shy and lacks the confidence to do so. When he finally realizes that he has failed, his anger and frustration (and possibly some alcohol) bring him out of himself to the uninhibited state he hasn't been before.

Nickel Creek – This Side Lyrics 21 years ago
To me this is a coming of age song. The first entrance into adulthood can be harder than imagined as a teenager. "It's foreign on this side and the truth is a bitter friend." But eventually you get used to it and come to love the new experiences that it brings. "It's foreign on this side but it feels like I'm home again. There's no place to hide but I don't think I'm scared."

I don't think that is excactly what Sean Watkins is writing about, but that's how it fits into my life at the moment. Perhaps he is writing about his experience with becoming famous. Or perhaps it is about love. No matter what it is specifically about, it is a great song. I love his song writing. I hope the new album coming out has a good chunk of his compositions on it.

Nickel Creek – Reasons Why Lyrics 21 years ago
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. It is such a universal experience, but sometimes I think I'm the only one who feels this way.

I especially like the satire of the line "others have excuses, I have my reasons why." I feel this way often: everyone is just making up excuses, but my reasons are far more legitimate!! "With so much deception, it's hard not to wander away." I want to find "the one true way" and it seems that I have to wander away to truly figure it out. But, I have to make sure my motive for wandering is actually my desire to find out who God really is and not fear, selfishness or pride.

That's how I interpret these lyrics. But I think they are still left abstract enough that one could interpret other experiences like romantic relationships and such.

Nickel Creek – Seven Wonders Lyrics 21 years ago
I think these lyrics explain human pride and our refusal to admit that we aren't in control. We can't change time or change the laws of nature, but we somehow fool ourselves into thinking we are seperate from nature and pretend that we are God. But in fact, we are a speck of dust and a complete nothing compared to all of time and creation.
