Although I have a wonderful father that still loves my mother very much, this song seems to penetrate me despite that. The line "And just 'cause he's dead/Doesn't change thae fact/A bastard in life/Thus a bastard in death" I can just feel the rage well up inside me, and I don't even have a father like that. It just goes to show how effective DCFC is. |

When I heard this song, suicidal came to mind. Its like, why go on living, why try to live? The Rainy Day reminds me of the turmoil that might go on in someone considering suicide.

I like the idea of one's afterlife being the memory they leave behind. Madison, I like your idea of someone who had left adn the memory being forgotten. It could also be the singer stepping outside of the eyes of love and seeing the person for who they really are. |

First off, I have to say that 'Futures' is one of my favorite albums.
I think the brilliance of the whole album is what I'm seeing here. There's this confusion about whether the songs on this album are more about drugs or love. I think the whole theme of the album is addiction, which is an umbrella for love and drugs, among other things. Quite a brilliant theme, and beautifully worked in. The debate just goes to show the ingenuity of 'Futures'. Congrats to Jimmy Eat World. |
