Janis Joplin – Little Girl Blue Lyrics 18 years ago
Libraquarius is absolutely right. Nothing to add really, but the last line of the song is also the best and gets me pretty much every time.

I think that anyone who has expereinced unrequited love will be able to identify with this song.

The Beautiful South – Rotterdam (Or Anywhere) Lyrics 18 years ago
Paul Heaton used to catch the ferry from Hull, where he lived, to Rotterdam to try and escape lonliness. This song is about how that and it follows you around no matter where you go. Quality stuff.

Joni Mitchell – California Lyrics 19 years ago
One of my favorite songs. Never been to California, so that probably helps. It makes California sound like the best place to be, and it probably isnt.

Badfinger – Without You Lyrics 19 years ago
Yea, badfinger did the original. The line of "But I guess that's just the way the story goes. You always smile, but in your eyes your sorrow shows yes, it shows" comes from something that Pete Ham's girlfriend used to say to him when he was covering something up. He wrote the song on the back of this.

Fantastic lyrics. Don't let the Mariah Carey version tarnish your view of it.

Katie Melua – Belfast Lyrics 19 years ago
My favorite song from her first album. It doesnt make much sense unless you know about the problems they have in Northern Ireland to do with religion. I think the song sends out a good message.

The Hollies – He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother Lyrics 19 years ago
bongo is partially right.

The song is inspired by an american war statue which depicts a soldier carrying his dead brother on his shoulders up to heaven. At the gates of heaven St. Peter asks "Isn't than man on your back heavy?" to which the soldier replys "He ain't heavy, he's my brother".

Fantastic idea for a song.
