Well, Ben wrote this song, and he pretty much made it all up. Not all songs have to be based on the songwriter's experiences, and this is one of them. In fact, Amy once said that she sometimes isn't entirely comfortable singing it, because it didn't come from something she experienced firsthand.
Still, that doesn't change the fact that this is an absolutely beautiful song, my favorite version of it by far. All it takes is those four lines...

I think this is a really neat song, not better than but equal to the original "Place For My Head". I really like the part where Chester is screaming and the piano is playing slowly in the background near the end... it's really cool. |

I don't think this is a waste of space at all- I think it's kind of neat and adds to the atmosphere of the CD. Sure, it would've been nice to have twenty songs rather than seventeen songs and three phone messages...but whatever. |

I jumped in shock when I heard this song the first time. I mean, the intro to Points of Authority is going, I'm getting into it, then all of a sudden Jay-Z starts the song out. Shoulda been expecting it, but still surprising.

Songs and poetry are meant to be interpreted in many different ways by readers. The authors are writing their words down, expressing them to the world to be enjoyed and thought about. Sure, to the author they may have a central meaning, and that meaning is true to them, but if someone else takes it totally differently that doesn't necessarily make them wrong.
Example: I write poetry (am NOT bragging, just saying). Now even though something I write may mean a specific thing to me, I actually am very interested if someone took it in an entriely different direction.
Songs are meant to be intrepreted by the listeners. Otherwise, what's the point?
...And also, if you don't believe in people writing down their thoughts on a song, then why do you have an account on a site devoted entirely to that? O.o |

This song's meaning seems kind of obvious to me... but that's just me. Maybe I'm wrong. But hey, it's all a matter of interpretation, right?
Anyway, I see this song as being about a person who's in love with someone, but that person ended their relationship long ago because they were kind of screwed up, somethimes not making sense no matter how hard they tried. But now they've sorted things out and got themselves together. The memory still hurts them, and they want to talk to the person they love about things, but they just ignore them and it is so frustrating to them until they just want to scream. Which, in the song, they do ;) |

The music is slightly different between the two versions that were not on Fallen. The lyrics are exactly the same across all three, but I can't off the top of my head remember how the music differs. They sound really similar though, nothing drastic at all. |

there are actually two versions that are 'not fallen versions'. they both sound similar to each other, but i still think that they're both better than the one on fallen.
This song is about posers, people who are just so fake and to one person it is glaringly obvious but no one else can seem to see it, bowing down to their icons of self-indulgence. |
