| In Flames – Come Clarity Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
based on the lyrics about getting older, and needing someone to lead him, coupled with the title "Come Clarity". I think as a child he though when he's older everything would make sense and he'd understand his direction and have some clarity. but this still hasn't happened, and he's still at sea, so he's crying out for guidance and clarity. whether that be in a person or spiritually, whatever you take from it. |

| A Perfect Circle – Magdalena Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Originally I thought this was about an infatuation become obsession: a person you desire so much they become perfect and unapproachable in your eyes. But the references to money and holy altars or temples made me realise it's about a strip-club. of course it's possible to become so obsessed with a stripper. it's their job to make you want them. this feels similar to a few Puscifer songs in that case. |

| Slipknot – Vermilion Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"I wont let this build up inside me" He sees her and falls for her. but he doesnt want to become obsessed because he knows he cant have her - she cant be real to him. yet each time he sees her he falls for her more, thinks about her "nervous, perverse when i see her its worse". and that line "I wont let this build up.." repeats and builds up to a crescendo. he cant help but let it build up and turn into an obsession. untill he's screaming at the end "She Isnt Real" like he's trying to convince himself. Thats how it seems to me anyway |

| Slipknot – Circle Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song is about getting older and learning wisdom. realising all the mistakes he's made and how he could have done life better. he wishes he could go back and do over "I wish so hard I'm there again" but he has to settle for passing on what he's learned "Follow Me". but at the same time he knows it wont make any difference. the young will continue to make the same mistakes, and not learn from those who've been there. so they will infact Follow Him. | |

| Static-X – Just In Case Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
like tomtooth and haunted said. Its about a guy who's in love with a chick who's just using him. she know he wants her, and is "stringing him along" keeping him around as a fallback incase things dont work out. her 'just in case boy' I like the 'break glass if needed' analogy. like emergency fire hydrands n tools. Anyway, she can read him like a book. or like a dog- who are known for not being very emotionally deep, unlike cats who r pretentious. you can immediately tell if a dog is happy/angry/scared/IN LOVE with you. 'you can see its emotion' just by its body language. eventually he realises how shes using him. and wonders if his love is returned "is this for real" because, she's ignoring him and eventually he'll lose out, and have nobody- sink in the ocean. so he breaks out, realises 'he dont wanna be her just in case boy' Eat that, bitch. |

| Static-X – Skinnyman Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
i dunno if wayne's got a kid or not, but the song sounds like its talking about a daughter. he wanders what happened to his innocent little girl "My little girl x3 Where are you?" Turns out she's grown up and been corrupted by the world: "My fucked up world x3 Destroyed you" He learns to live with the change, waiting in dread for the day she dies and he has to say good bye to her. "Day after day Day after day I get it now I just go on without you Twisted inside Six miles high I rehearse how to Say goodbye to you" & he's Pissed at himself for letting it her become corrupted- a monster "Skinnyman Turned into a monster I'm a motherfucker" until it consumes him "Inside i'm dead All used up God damn i miss her" and he dies. "As my skin turns yellow I forget this hell As the skies are bruised And the rain comes down As my face turns pale Try to deal with these thoughts At the end of it all x10" makes sense to me. even if its not true to the writer's life, it could be what the songs about |

| Static-X – Stem Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think you're ALL right: kinda :D It's about someone concealing and disguising himself from everybody. what he does, and who he is, and what he's feeling when he's alone: "anything that I want you to know anything that I want you to see" he acts, and "becomes" what is normal and customary to aid this deception: "see the reason to which way to be anything that I want you to be" when inside he's really suicidal because he feels guilty- possibly because of the deception itself, or the thing he was decieving people about - and feels filthy about himself and what he's done. "i've got a dirty gun up against my head cleanse and purge the ill from the inside" His burning conscience (for what ever he's done) severs the stem ie. the life source. he kills himself because of his conscience. or, metaphorically. he's dead inside because his guilt is eating him up. |

| The Servant – Cells Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Sin City again My meaning is pretty similar to some of the ones mentioned, but I'll go through it in depth... Cells Basically i think the song has a lot to do with the monotony of a life without direction, and the way routine can imprisoning: a prison 'Cell'. The narrator and his significant other ('You', could be a close friend or lover or whatever) are each trapped in their respective Cells of routine, and away from each other. right from the intro, the song has a slow 4/4 rock beat from the drums, with a heavy, regular bass drum which continues pretty much all the way throughout the song. and an acoustic guitar playing a chord sequence. this music and vocal style in itself gives (to me) the impression of a regular, monotonous routine (-not to say the music is boring, but this is the idea I get from the tune when coupled with the lyrics). "It'll all click when the mortgage clears All our fears will disappear" this gives the idea that the narrator has problems, the peices of his life dont quite fit. and he;s working towards clearing the mortgage, and then he thinks it'll all fit together. "Now you go to bed I'm staying here I've got another level that I want to clear My skin feels like orange peel My eyes have been vacuum-sealed My organs move like a squirm of eels We should be more adventurous with our meals They annoy me those who employ me They could destroy me They should enjoy me" This is where we start to get the impression he's bored, uncomfortable and slightly restless with his life. He's playing video games (another level i want to clear) - this could also be a metaphor that his life is all a game. hes just playing the game. go to work everyday to get to the next level - promotion maybe? a nicer house, better car, all the materialistic and superficial meanings of life as the world would have us believe. The next few lines as well as several others in this song always remind me of Edward Norton's Character in Fight Club, at the beginning, he's looking like crap from lack of sleep. got his box apartment, his ikea furniture, white collar job. and he's just bored with the routine of life (enter Tyler Durden-). Similarly our narrator seems dissatisfied with his job -his bosses don't seem to appreciate him (they annoy me, should enoy me). "We eat chinese off our knees And look for each other in the TV screen" Ive got two ideas about this part. the first is that the narrator and his special someone (who maybe he hasnt found yet in this vast city) are both sitting at their respective homes eating a t.v. dinner. and although watching tv on the surface, they're both in the same situation, really yearning for a companion: looking for each other in the tv screen. The second (and more likely) idea is that they're both having a t.v. dinner together, but arent really being social with each other, just watching tv out of habit, and yet they're both staring at each others reflection in the tv monitor rather than watching the show. This idea is more likeley because of the line we should be more adventurous with our meals. he wants to eat with her(!) and socialise to enjoy her company to try and break routine. then again this line fits into the first idea. he wants to be more adventurous with his meals. so maybe he'll go out to eat and chance meeting his love. "The sun goes up and the sun goes down I drag myself into the town All I do I want to do with you Everyday I'm at my desk At my desk I'm like the rest All I do I want to do with you" The first two lines of the chorus here are emphasising the monotony and routineness of his life. every day he does the same thing, just as sure as the sun rising and setting. like everyone else he goes to work, sits at a desk and goes through the motions, but really his heart and his mind is elsewhere. he wants to be with his 'You'. "On the city's skin they move en masse Like a rash on the back of a manky cat" I like this analogy. in rush hour, everyone moving together in the same direction. not in a good or comforting way, but sickening and diseased. like a rash of sores. "Now in I go like a fool I can't resist dipping in the pool I watch them watch me I watch them too Across the street across the room" now even though he doesnt want to, he joins this mass of traffic going into the city to work. out of the habit and routine which he's stuck in. in there with all these people- ubiquitous (across the street/room) empty faces, all stuck in a routine looking back at him (they watch me too). "I dress myself like a charcoal sketch My eyes are brown and my hair's a mess" A charcoal sketch is black and white. he dresses as such. one imagines boring, white shirt, black tie, pants shoes. his hairs a mess is like he's so caught up in a futile routine. he doesnt see the point, so cant be bothered grooming himself, just another routine. Next is the pre-chorous we've already mentioned. about the employers and the job he hates, and then he gets to go home where he looks forward to the excitement of eating junkfood and watching mindless tv :o| [Chorus] |

| Alanis Morissette – Eight Easy Steps Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This is the only track I've heard of Alanis Morissette. heard it 1st at a Kenny Aronoff Drum Clinic \m/ . The song's good, the studio drummer's a legend. My interpretation of the lyrics is its partially about the quick fix society, how we all want to be perfect, but dont want to do any work to get there, so we look for a way to become all of this in only 8 easy steps. also- some peoples idea of that pefection - if ever attained would really be contradictory to theselves. (they want to be a feminist, pious, spiritual yet in reality they are hypocritical mysoganistic god-haters): their image of what they want to be is completely different to who they are they're decieving themselves and others. And also these could be experiences that Alanis Morrisette has had her self "I've been doing research for years... practicing my ass off" Anyway, good song, good rythm to the vocals. and, of course good drumming :P |

| Evanescence – The Only One Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I thought a similar thing 'Death is hereditary' ... "When they all come crashing down- midflight you know you're not the only one when they're so alone they find a back door out of life you know you're not the only one We're all grieving lost and bleeding" Its like she's just heard of someone else committing suicide (finding a back door out of life) and she realises she's not the only one that feels that way, everyone feels depressed every now and then (we're all grieving and bleeding) the rest of the song goes in a slightly different tangent but still on the same basic lines |

| KoЯn – Liar Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think this song is Jon talking to a friend who's inlove with a girl, but wants to take it slow and pr'aps not go to bed with her right away, even though he's really attracted to her. Jon doesn't agree with taking it slow, or abstaining from sex and he's saying he should knock her up right away: My brother, you love her But don't give up your instincts Hang onto you what know **Dont give up to ur instincts ie. the sexual attraction you feel to her as a man.** They'll be gone fast as you blink They're trained to seduce you Suck you dry quick as they can They tried to reduce you Now you're barely a man **He's trying to convince his friend that women are just out to bleed him dry and rip him off, so its not worth going slow, or committing to the relationship, best thing to do is root her asap because otherwise you'll have lost your chance (and possibly your wallet)** Oh my God How can you deny the flood That's flowing through you **He's either saying OMG in exasperated disbelief or in Awe or a bit of both at the amount of self control this person has. being able to deny the flood, the surging waves of hormones and red blood flowing through him (and to his dick)** Hey you You're saying that she's all that you desire Liar **Calling him a liar because he says he wants her, but wont go in and take her yet. he wants to wait** Hey you You think you can throw water on this fire Liar **Saying that he doesn't have the willpower, to control himself and his feelings (the fire). eventually he will break and the fire will take over him, he'll be overcome with lust and libido** It's not wrong to let go And let the woman ride you For fuck sake, don't lose touch With the dog that's inside you **Trying to convince him that it's not immoral to jump straight into bed... the 'let the woman ride you' can have two meanings either literally (ie. intercourse) or meaning let the woman take control in the relationship (and have sex)- this indicating that the woman also just wants to have sex straight away. Dont lose touch with the dog... dont lose touch with the primal instincts of a bloke, his libido** She wanted what you had You bet she smelt the spore Don't give up, fuck her up One more time, slam that door **"she wants you, and she knows you want her, so just go ahead and root'er** repeated choruses. On a personal note I happen to agree with the point of view of the friend. I think it's wise to take it slow in a relationship. So kinda paradoxically I love this song because I can relate to the subject of a song, the one who Jon's ranting at. And for the record: WTF? Head? God? bugger off!! |

| Children of Bodom – Are You Dead Yet? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think the last line in the chorus is cool. like if life's sh!t you can either get depressed about it, or think, I'm not dead yet, (ie. ask yourself rhetorically Are You Dead Yet? ) obviously the answer's no, so life could be worse, so look up and get on with it. | |

| Tool – Disgustipated Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I dunno about the second half. thats beyond me at this time of night. but the beginning is really cool. a satyrical look at militant vegan hippies!! (told you I was tired). ppl who go vegan or vegitarian because they dont like animals being killed. living things being killed. the song is just drawing a parallel from one or 2 steps down the food chain. plants, carrots are living things too. the carrots are being hunted down slaughtered, mercilessly eaten alive by the rabbits. Its necessary. its a FOOD CHAIN. Life feeds on life, which in turn feeds on life. havent u seen the lion king?. living things eating living things to survive is a natural process. just watch the discovery channel. if you only eat things that have died naturally, then, naturally, ur gonna die pretty soon too. |

| According to the link that Iha put up, Hoffman invented the 1-on-1 therapy technique... thats what i gather anyway, correct me if im wrong... Neway, its this technique the doctor tries to use to get the patient to open up. open up. hence lost keys. heh heh Am I genius or what? | |
| Tool – Lost Keys (Blame Hofmann) Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This is a really cool song. The music in the background gives a really cool, eerie feel to the convrsation between the doctor (who sounds remarkably like the Australian Dr. Chase from the show House) and the nurse (who doesnt). The spooky feel makes for a good lead-up to the next track Rosetta Stoned, the sequel/prequel to this track whatever way you want to look at it. I got the album yesterday. Best. Album Art. Ever. |

| Ünloco – Bruises Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Great song to relieve agression; sounds like a fightin song. sounds like he's been picked on and beaten up and given sh!t by some1 ('Please leave me alone, for I have bruises left to show'). Over time this abuse has messed him up with his confidence and esteem, and up till now he's just let it pass 'the lie that i live, everything that I give'. But now he's snapped 'STFU' and fought back. 'Come on get up, lemme see ur bruises' - he's beaten him down, and is saying get up for more, i wanna see ur bruises - sweet revenga. Brilliant song anyway. Is the rest of Unloco any good? this is the only one I've heard |

| freedom, i just read your theory. I always thought that too. that it was a the thoughts of a girl that had just died. but i thought it couldn't be that. | |
| Evanescence – Hello Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Its late so i didn't read many comments. I'm thinking its about someone suffering from depression, not neccisarily after a death. someone whose dropped out of the crowd. the schoolbell indicates its a child (teenage depression) and the rainclouds represent the sadness itself. the word 'again' repeated after these two lines i think emphasises the monotony and routine-ness and boring repetition of life, also like she's just going about her routine subconsciously, and the school and the world just goes on around her not noticing her (i saw an ad for teenage depression where the kid was sitting in class in real time and everyone else was going about around them in blurred fast motion). 'has no-one told you she's not breathing' means shes not living her life to the full, shes just doing it out of routine. 'Hello I'm your mind... hello' is where she starts talking to herself in her head, keeping herself company because no-one else talks to her. 'if i smile ... this dream' means shes thinking if i just keep going it'll be over soon. 'Dont try to fix me...broken" is her shunning concern from people who are worried about her but dont really understand what depression is, and they want to 'fix' her as opposed to just being there for her and talking to her and actually helping her. (i have a friend who recently went through depression and I felt that our mutual friends, although they cared, didnt understand depression so they couldnt help him, they just made it worse.) the next 'Hello' comes from the mask the person wears, who now just feigns well being to hide their true feelings if they're asked how their doing. they've been hurt once by people who care but dont understand, now they're not letting them in. just fending them away with the 'lie living for you'. the 'living for you' bit refers to what i said above: how they're just going through their routine/life suconsciously and not really engaging in life. the lie allows them to sit within themselves and avoid the distractions of day-to-day life. 'Don't cry' she tells herself not to cry, again to hide and disguise her feelings (crying can be good. lets out emotion, you can feel better afterwards). Suddenly i know i'm not sleeping' she realises how bad her life has become and the next hello voice comes from the small part of her: all thats left of yesterday: all thats left of her self before her depression and this mask which has taken over her life like a cancer or addiction. this final voice is a sign of hope 'I'm still here'. there is still hope, we can make it through this, we can become like we once were. Just one theory. i kinda developed it as i went. give me any feedback or comments. now I'm going to bed. just 1:30 AM, almost an early night. |

| Evanescence – My Immortal Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Okay, I got bored of reading at Page 5. for those guys asking at the beginning, Amy and ben arent lovers, just close friends, but they did date in highschool. Amy's little sister Bonnie (i think) died when they were kids so it might be about that. except that Ben Moody wrote the song. I think the My Immortal is my immortal love for this person, who has died, or maybe just broken up. lets work on the death theory first (thats always popular). In this case the Immortal could be refering to their memory or their spirit hanging around. this is supported by the lines: "'cause your prescence still lingers here and it won't leave me alone" and "now i'm bound by the life you left behind your face, it haunts..." maybe it's about a lover who died and now the griever can't ever love anyone else because they 'still have all of'(them). and she's 'tried so hard to tell her self he's gone' and tried to move on, but theres 'too much that time can't erase'. she remembers their love and the times they had 'you cried...' I've read a few people think it might be a mother-child thing, the 'you cried...' verse definately fits in there. you can imagine a grieving mother who keeps finding little mementos and reminders, like photos or drawings of/from her child: 'your presence still lingers here' the break up idea also fits in: obviously she was in love with this person, and maybe they still see each other but don't talk which makes the pain so much worse. remembering old times and feelings that remain, taking time to get over them. but maybe realising that he never loved her in the first place "I've been alone all along". this realisation driving the person mad: 'chased away all the sanity...'. Whatever angle you want to look at it from, its a fantastic song from a fantastic artist, very moving. Its a Love song, about commitment or unconditional love, or even the unfairness and cruelty of our feelings and love. |

| Evanescence – Tourniquet Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| It asks the question, is suicide a mortal sin? Ie. if you commit suicide will god/christ remember you and let you into heaven or will he reject you for sinning? it does this by describing someone who's killed themselves and is about to die and is asking god for forgiveness, or at least Salvation, and acceptance into heaven. my other post (which was years ago so dont quote me too much from that) kinda says what i think the use of the word Tourniquet is about. | |
| System of a Down – Chop Suey! Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I only read thwe first page here. I've got a problem, I love this song musically, its a classic. but the meaning i get from the lyrics I dont love. heres what i get from it: that they're saying that Jesus wasn't really the son of god, but just got himself cruxified for attention, or because he was being 'self righteous'. the quote "father into your hands..." comes from jesus when he was on the cross (i think david said something similar) and the fact they're calling it a self-righteous suicide gives the impression that jesus was a self righteous (ie. not really righteous, just thinks he is) fanatic who committed suicide for attention. the first verse could be describing how he puts on a disguise of righteousness and innocence (make-up to hide the shake up) to create a fable, to become legend. this meaning goes against my beliefs so i'm in two minds about this song. however after reading some of your meanings, I might try to think differently about it. |

| Iron Maiden – Fear of the Dark Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
i like this song. the pace and tone helps the mood it creates. like at the beginning its slow and kinda feels like suspenseful creeping fear, just like how anyone would feel if they were walking at night and the streetlights turned off. or a horror movie when they hear a creak and go and investigate (duh, ur gonna die). just like a shiver down your spine, not full on just in the back of your mind. then when it speeds up right after the 1st chorus its like full on panic and frantic terror. like in the horror movie when they see the psycho killer or whatever it is and they're screaming and running and they know they're gonna die or get pretty close to it (told you). good song at any rate. |

| Iron Maiden – 2 Minutes To Midnight Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I don't know much about the cold war. what i got from this song was it being about all countries who make war. particularly the US and other western countries and the war in iraq. i know this song was probably written long before. but this is my meaning for this song. Ok. heres why: "Kill for gain or shoot to maim" Oil is gain "But we don't need a reason" Saddam hussain hiding WMDs or is he?? obviously they dont need a reason "The Golden Goose is on the loose" IRONxxxMAIDEN 44 said the golden goose was a term for capitalism. hence western countries... "And never out of season" The U.S. always seems to be sticking their noses in "Some blackened pride still burns inside This shell of bloody treason" & "Go to war again, blood is freedom's stain" Pride for "Freedom and Liberty", which is being treasoned against by enforcing it on other nations. Its not freedom if its being enforced. "Here's my gun for a barrel of fun For the love of living death." & "The glamour, the fortune..." As a culture we idolise and glorify violence and war. look at console games (not that i'm complaining i love FPS games) but we've made war seem fun (barrel of fun). "The blind men shout let the creatures out We'll show the unbelievers" & "As the madmen play on words and make us all dance to their song," People have been decieved into blind patriotism, believing that anything apart from democracy is evil. (just for the record the US isn't a democracy) "We oil the jaws of the war machine and feed it with our babies" =ppl sending their children off to war (ne'er to return) theres lots of other links as well. like i said, this is just my interpretation of the song, the cold war stuff's prolly more on the line although a lot of this can also tie in with that. |

| Nightwish – Nemo Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| although theres a lot of imagery in nightwish's lyrics, most of the songs don't seem to be about much in particular, you have to think up your own meaning. on that note, i think this song is about a person who has become bitter and hateful (similar to the bitterness of captain nemo in 20,000 leagues under the sea) and doesnt like it, and wants to have a heart again, maybe because they feel doomed to damnation. | |
| Green Day – Holiday Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I havent read thru all these posts. I got the American Idiot Album after hearing the title track on the radio, and it got me into greenday. (I was anti-bush and anti-war in iraq before it was cool!! it's a mockery of the whole US mantra. they're Forcing "Liberty" onto a people who obviously dont want it. but this isnt the place. so i'll take my soapbox elsewhere and by the way "Scattered" post 10-15-2004 (page 1) if bush doesnt want global domination, he's hiding it pretty well). I saw Greenday live in Perth a coupla months ago and billy says "this song is a big F*CK YOU to George W Bush". which it obviously is, and its about time too. | |
| Seether – Fade Away Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
i agree munky boyy (apart from the juggalo bit). it\'s about an (as yet) unrequited love. he really cares about this person and want\'s to be in a relationship, wants to love her : I wanna be there when you call I wanna catch you when you fall I wanna be the one you need I wanna be the one you breathe I wanna be there when you cry And when you’re down I’ll help you fly I wanna be the one you need I wanna be the one you breathe and it\'s messing up his emotions \'It’s breaking me up and tearing me up It’s all I have\' I\'m not exactly sure about the rest, the \'taking it back\' bit (maybe he\'s going to take back his pride by asking her); or the fade away bit (maybe he\'s given up and wants her to fade out of memory- but thats a bit depressing; how bout they fall in love and fade away together. and live happily ever after.*) *I wanted to put a hopeful spin on it because i\'m in a similar situation with a girl; this song, and a few others remind me of her! For Me it's about Teasing and bullying and shit and not letting that shit bring you down. saying bring it on, you cant kill me "shoot me again I aint dead yet" also dont sink to their level "stand silent in flames" dont talk back, just ignore them and be the better man and eventually it'll stop "stand tall till it fades" and the perpetrators will just feel stupid and guilty "All the shots I take, I spit back at you All the shit you fake, Comes back to haunt you " Don't try and change to fit what they want "no compromise, my heart won't pump the other way" Basically sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me." |

I recon its about two close people in a relationship together (close in spirit even if not geographically: "so close no matter how far"), just travelling through life hand in hand and taking everyday as it comes "every day for us something new", making decisions together instead of arguing "open mind for a different view", and he doesnt care if people critisize them "never cared for what they say...". the only line i dont understand is 'Couldn't be much more from the heart' it's a great, really passionate song. |

Quote Paulothemanio ""The empty can rattles the most." means the stupidest people have very strong opinions and voice them whereas intelligent people tend to keep quiet." reminds me of a quote "the loudest have the least to say" -i cant remember where i heard it or POD "set it off" - "why do cowards talk the loudest" |

| Metallica – Holier Than Thou Lyrics | 20 years ago |

'Led Zep Man' and 'Live in my Attic' i get what u mean about self righteous religious ppl. I'm a christian too, but not fully religious (just because other christians believe it, doesnt necessarily mean i do) and by no means perfect. I recon this song has biblical principles though 'Holier Than Thou' is a quote from Isaiah 65. 5 (soz, had a concordance handy) which is about dickheads who piss him off, ppl who say 'I'm holier than thou'. I recon the whole meaning to the song is about 'let him without sin cast the first stone' or 'the speck in your brothers eye with the plank in your own (read luke 6: 37-42) basicly, dont judge or gossip about others, or be prejudiced, you arent perfect and you dont know what their situation is. they may have a very good reason for doing whatever they're doing. In any case. a Great song |

I'm a student ATM and The meaning i get from this one is of someone who's wasted a lot of time in their life, by being lazy (ie. not studying) or by other means. and they're asking if they could go back to a time when they'd have a chance to work harder and succeed, whether or not they'd use that gift and actually work. "If i could have my wasted days back, would i use them to get back on track" If they did get into that position they'd know their future, and anything bad that would happen to them "Can I find it inside To deal with what I shouldn't know" it's like he knows being lethargic is bad for him, but he's too lazy to get out of it "Treading water full of worry" treading water= floating stationary and "Or look ahead, but keep on turning? " aspire to succeed but keep on walking in circles He's being a hypocrite by knowing this and not trying "You Live it or Lie it" and he knows that if he doesnt get out of this way of life, it'll kill him or he'll just die a nobody "My lifestyle determines my deathstyle " This doesnt just have to be not studying... it could be any bad/destructive habit Ie. drugs/alcoholism or even a dead end job. |

| I recon this song has similar themes to 'holier than thou' from black. but from the other point of view. | |
| Metallica – All Within My Hands Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| The drumming is 'ok', definately nowhere near satisfactory by lars' usual standards. but that snare can get annoying pretty quickly, it rattles the brain. | |

i reckon it's dont lay down and die, one day remains, ie. there's always tomorrow. live life and life abundant. makes me think me of him talking to someone really depressed, or really being brought down and saying keep fighting, dont give up.] does that make sense? most of alter bridge used to be creed, both bands have very religious meaning music i recon |
