I don't believe this is a religious song, but the line "I believe the sun should never set upon an argument" is a clear reference to Ephesians 4:26 - "Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry" (NIV). It's a very often quoted phrase. I strongly doubt there's anything more to it than that. Not intending to start a religious argument here either! |

| The song's meaning becomes clearer for me when Bono sings it live. On the Elevation DVD, he adds one word that makes all the difference: "Touch me. Take me to that other place. Teach me - Lord - I know I'm not a hopeless case". That part is definitely a prayer. | |
