| The Cinematic Orchestra – To Build A Home Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I heard this song in the documentary "The Horse Boy" about a family's love for their autistic son and their journey to heal him. It was the perfect song for the film. | |
| Regina Spektor – Laughing With Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I am so excited for this album to come out! I think Regina Spektor is saying that in instances when people are faced with death and suffering and their lives are out of control, god is no longer a joke because (provided that the person believes in god) he is in control of their lives. I think this is where the "laughing with" god comes into play. Because god is seen as a higher power, he controls each individual's fate. |

| Cat Power – Ice Water Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
coming back to these lyrics three years after my first comment, i have decided that i think they are indeed about rape. the lyrics all suggest it, and this lyric that made somebody think she had lied about being rape ("of course she lied anyway"), i take to mean - a lot of girls are ashamed, guilty and confused after being raped, so they don't tell anybody and lie if anybody asks about it. "i think you need ice water..." maybe ice water is like she needs a wake up or realization of some sort. "ah, you'll swim and i will drink myself to death" - i thought this meant that the rapist will go on living as normal, while she suffers and self-medicates. |

| Emily Haines & the Soft Skeleton – Crowd Surf off a Cliff Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
i thought this song was about a long-distance relationship since the first time i heard it. the first verse is about the absence on a physical relationship ("cursed with a love that you can't express, it's not for a fuck, or a kiss"). and obviously, the phone-call has to do with distance ("this call costs a fortune and it's late where you live"). waking up lonely and seeing the person with her both have to do with missing somebody. that's my take on it. p.s. i think it's okay for people to have DIFFERENT interpretations whether they are 'correct' or 'incorrect,' perception is a wonderful thing :). |

| Amber Rubarth – Unfinished Art Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think this song is about a new relationship and getting to the point where you open up to the other person ("slowly they open, like arms that were folded"). Although they are perfect for each other ("like love on a letter"), the girl leaves for Santa Fe for reasons unknown. I see the "unfinished art" meaning the loose ends of the relationship. I don't understand the whole song, but I love it just the same. Sorry for the random interpretation, I just wanted to throw it out there :). |

| Damien Rice – Accidental Babies Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I'm in love with this song. I saw Damien over the summer and he played this on the keyboard and it was utterly amazing. So much emotion. I think it's about a man and woman who had an affair with eachother - "and we ignore our others" but then the woman decides to stay with her significant other. This song portrays the man's point-of-view, feeling abandoned and such. I can't wait for Damien's new CD next month, this song is on it! |

| Jenny Owen Youngs – Voice on Tape Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| About a long distance relationship, or maybe about going on tour and being a relationship. This song reminds me of Tegan and Sara's "When I Get Up." | |
| Jenny Owen Youngs – Fuck Was I Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Lovelovelove. I love this song, as well as Voice On Tape, which isn't on here yet. |

I agree with the 13thzen. That's how I thought of it, too. I love this song on Drive Well, Sleep Carefully. Love it. |

Hahaha. Whether or not people like it, Sufjan wrote a song about, yes, HIS BELIEFS. I love it. |

| The Frames – Fake Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I love Damien Rice & The Frames. :] | |
| Damien Rice – Silent Night Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Lisa Hannigan has an amazing voice. She really brings something to this song; whether it's because of her personal experiences, or passion - I can't really imagine anybody else singing this song quite like her. I think that this song is about a breakup, or a separation, personally. Or at least that's how I relate to it. The lyrics "You found some love for me, thinking I'd go," kind of confuse me still. But I love this song. |

| Mates of State – The Kissaway Lyrics | 21 years ago |

This song is my favorite. No kidding. |
|
| Rosie Thomas – Wedding Day Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I love this song to death. It makes me want to pack my stuff and take a roadtrip to nowhere in particular. I think that it's about a girl who has had her heart broken, but is moving on by getting away from everything to live. | |
| Depeche Mode – Enjoy The Silence Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Well, I don't know what this song is about. Heroin and a relationship make sense. But since David Gahan overdosed on heroin in 1996 and this song was released in 1990, I don't believe it's about heroin. | |
| Depeche Mode – Freelove Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This song does seem to be about having a one night stand, but I like to pretend that it's just about being loved, with no hidden motives, like DjFlow said. =) | |
