i agree with what some of you said.. when i first thought of this song i immediately thought he was just talking about a homicide, but then after hearing it a few more times i started thinking maybe he was talking about someone being dead inside. my take on it is that hes talking to a girl (obviously) who is more of a best friend.. i dont think hes talking about a girlfriend. i think the girl hes talking about was, as some of you said, hurt by maybe a boyfriend. towards the end where he says "ill catch the murderer and send him away", i think hes being protective and telling her that he will make sure the guy that hurt her wont ever be able to hurt her again. another idea i had was maybe a girl he knew was raped.. in which case the song would be both literal and metaphorical. the crimes and doctors and such would be the literal part, because that is what is usually involved in a rape incident.. but again, being dead i think is referring to her emotionally. a lot of girls go into a sort of mental state of shock for a while after something like that, and maybe thats what he means. "It's not a suicide, it's a crime I have a witness, it's clearly evident There had to be someone else present At the time of death, poisons in stomach How could she pull it, if she's dead?" poisons in the stomach could be a pregnancy due to the rape.. i guess im rambling, but there are so many ways to interpret this song. :P |

| sorry sloth, but i have to disagree. for years ive been defending this song against people who were saying the same things as you (that its desperate) until i finally got fed up and did some reseach on it. the second line of the song is "im leaving my life in your hands".. obviously he is talking to someone.. "i dont care what is written in your history" is basically the whole point of the song. lets say, hypothetically of course, that one of the bsb falls in love with a girl then finds out she used to rob banks or something... hes basically saying that he doesnt care about any of that... he loves her for who she is, not for what shes done or where she comes from and whats happened in her past. hes talking TO somebody, not any girl in general. | |
