Streetlight Manifesto – Point/Counterpoint Lyrics 20 years ago
when played live, they play "Keasbey" in the middle of it, and the way they play it, it's clear that "P/CP" is a response to "Keasbey". As Keasbey ends with "When they come for me I’ll be sitting at my desk with a gun in my hand wearing a bullet proof vest singing my my my how the time does fly when you know you’re going to die by the end of the night", they go right into P/CP with, "So I waited by the phone but that phone never rang And I sang so loud so I wouldn't hear the bang When the bang never came and I never got the call: Fuck it! Thank you! I love you all!".

Basically, P/CP is the happy ending to Keasbey Nights. Annnnnd it's pretty much amazing.

Guster – Diane Lyrics 20 years ago
Hmm...I could be way off here...

To me it seems like this song is about a relationship that takes place in a short amount of time. Specifically, things like relationships at a summer camp (maybe it's because Guster is like...THE jewish camp band). But lines like "so we pass the time and occupy our minds and close our eyes and hope that we'll be fine" describe carrying on a relationship despite knowing that it can't last. The wishful thinking aspect of "hope that we'll be fine" is there.

Maybe I'm just lonely for jewcamp, but that does seem to be what this song is about. Something like that.

I love this song.

The Lawrence Arms – Quincentuple Your Money Lyrics 21 years ago
"There's a park in this city where I used to go,
but now it's covered with fences and cops and lightposts.
And I'd never go back even if it was the same,
but it kills me to know that it's changed."

this line really resonates with me, and it was the first LA song i fell in love with. I know how that is, as there's places like that when i go visit where i used to live. it really does feel like someone's changing a part of who you are, of who you were, when that happens to someplace that was important to you. it's like they've found a way to change your past by changing the present.

This song....probably one of my favorite TLA songs...and I've got a lot of favorite LA songs....but this one resonates with me espeically, and i don't know why. i think it's just easy for some people to relate to their songs, and i'm one of those people.
