Sunset Rubdown – Snake's Got a Leg II Lyrics 17 years ago
i think the lyrics are
"they peck at my skin with their beaks on my mouth
and they peck at my skin with their beaks on my mouth
and they peck at my skin with their penniless
caw and they caw and they caw caw caw cawing out."

The Shins – Turn a Square Lyrics 19 years ago
No really guys, this song is just about cheating. The first verse starts ou when the two meet, everything is great. But then he has bad habits that are hard to give up like getting excited by every girl that comes around.
"Just a glimpse of an ankle and I
react like it's 1805"
"It'll take all my strength to give up"
His head is "like a kite" because it wonders and never settles on one girl.

So then he's on tour and she's at home:
"To town!
Where your feet leave not prints on the ground
Have I left my home just to whine in this microphone?"

But when they talk on the phone, she says "I cant be just one of the flock" and he says, "well that's what you have to be if you want to be with me". Because we all know he's tried. So his detractors are right, they can never last. He is a cliche of the rocker who can't keep it in his pants.

Sunset Rubdown – Winged/Wicked Things Lyrics 19 years ago
I actually thing the lines are:

"And chaos is yours,
And chaos is mine
And chaos is luck and like luck and love blind
So I say, oh, I see now
It's just smoke"

This is an amazing song. To me it is about religious fanatics of all faiths. He says, "So I say it's the white hair of Poseiden
Ebbing the tide in some dead sea
So you say it's ths shroud of Turin".
He is saying we all have different beliefs about God or higer powers. One may be Christian and another may be mythology. But all beliefs are bound by one common fact; they all base their beliefs on abstract "invisible" things like "wicked winged things" also known as angels or demons (depending on how you look at it). But then he says that all this leads us in chaotic lives but beware to write believers off as irratioinal because love is also chaotic and we all believe in love.

He goes on;
"But they're subject to hating us
Oh, just like the rest of us
Oh, but just like the best of us
They need the rest of us to stay alive"
One group may be hated by another and wonder why, but if they look at them selves, they hate right back. And their leaders hate too! But if there were no believers, there would be no church or God HImself.
He then ends the song by stateing.
"So I say, oh, I see now
It's just smoke"
We are all fighting over things that don't really matter, getting obsessed an blinded by the smoke when there are more important things to get to.

Langhorne Slim – Lord Lyrics 19 years ago
a truly beautiful song. about a love that was lost, died. so sweet. good job with the lyrics except in the last verse, i think it says:

"so take me breath, god take it away.
by taking hers now, lord, what was saved"

I never knew the translation for this song so i used the same method of interpretation as (). i just allowed the music to tell me what it meant to me. surprisingly or not surprisingly at all, after reading the translation, i came pretty close. the first part of the song was so peaceful, like someone just falling in love. he has blinders to the rest of the world because the love is still fresh. this can be anything, not just love. like religion. but then something happens right when the music gets intense. you relize that everything you knew was wrong and you are thrown into the confusing world of reality where nothing makes sense.

Radiohead – We Suck Young Blood. (Your Time Is Up.) Lyrics 21 years ago
well, this song is really about blood for oil. this album came out during the US and UK's occupaton of Iraq. it is true that it is about imperialism and corporate greed in third world countries in general, but more specifially, about blood for oil. well that's what i read in the spin article and ever since is what i thought of when i heard this song

Radiohead – Idioteque Lyrics 21 years ago
simply put, this song is about excess. the real lyrics to the chorus are:
"here i'm alive, everything all of the time"
which means, people think that as long as they are privelegded enough to be alive, they ahve to consume as much as possible. for example the line, i swallow til i burst. this then leads to war, perhaps nuclear, and thus the ice age and women and children in bunkers.

Radiohead – A Wolf at the Door (It Girl. Rag Doll) Lyrics 21 years ago
well i havnt read it here but what this song means to me is as follows: i think he is talking about the inner dilemma of being successful and rich but having to sell your soul to get there. inthe second verse, the first two lines (cranes and x-ray eyes) conveys the facade that some very rich people put on but he can see that they are just liek everyody else. 'why are you on the list' goes on with this theme by saying what makes you so special. he goes on with desciptive lines about the lives of the rich, esp the born and raised for the job meaning servants, but 'dont know we're born little' reiterates that we are born the same.

the 'wolf' in the chorus is the monster that success can be. but the wolf threthens to take away all taht one has caccomplised if you do the right thing. the last line ' so i'm just gonna...' leaves the question open. what is the person going to do? live with the success or live a rightoues life. he doesnt know.

well that was what i felt when i heard this song... what do you think?
