All of you people who are talking about how it's "about someone breaking up with someone and they can't get over them", you're 1/3 right. It's 3 metaphors in one song. It's a metaphor of a song getting stuck in your head that is also used to describe a failed relationship (or possibly having a crush on someone?), but also, if you looked deeper into the song, you'd see that it's also a metaphor for a drug addiction. Ken Andrews (the lead singer of failure..the band who originally did this song) had some drug issues, and used his music to talk about alot of his problems (see: Dirty Blue Balloons, The Nurse Who Loved Me, etc.). |

I heard the first like, 10 seconds of this song and thought it was really freaking cool. And then it burst into the chorus and I was severely disappointed. I wish they could've kept the whole song calm and collected. It wouldn't been nice. |

I kinda see the meaning of the song as two things that are connected. I see it as, he's connecting the levee and his woman. The "levee breaking" is actually the "straw that broke the camel's back", in that he and his woman finally got in a fight and she kicked him out. This is like a levee breaking, because if the levee breaks, he's gotta move, he's been forced from his home. |
