to me, this song is definitely about a long distance relationship, but it could mean many things. i'm currently in a relationship with someone who lives in california. i live in ireland. the song just hit me, it describes so simply and perfectly how i feel about it all. i often think of the many miles and state lines and mountains and ocean between us, but when you love someone distance often fades into insignificance., that amazes me every day. truly beautiful song. i also love how the two voices intertwine, reflects how the lovers think about each other, far away. distance can make the heart grow fonder. |

in a way the sunny tune hides a darker meaning for me. the first lines reflect so accurately how i feel when i am in the middle of a depression, people blur up and i cant hear them properly. it is as though i am in a different world to them, whether that is a sunny one i dont know. but the lyrics hit me every time and give comfort. especially when i cant stand people talking at me. |

The song is so beautiful, but it doesn't just have to mean he has seen a 'beautiful' girl, it could mean he has seen someone who he feels a connection with, and theres a spark there, or instant attraction. I never look at 'typical' beautiful guys and feel like that, but if I see a guy with dark long hair and brown eyes, I definetley feel like that! ;) |

i think dave grohl has proved all the critics wrong, that said his career was over when kurt killed himself. Everyone idolises kurt when they should be looking forward at all the stuff daves acheived. Nirvana was an amazing band and still are, but dave has outlived all of them, literally. I heard this song for the first time today and didn't know they wrote songs as dark as this. I love the riff at the beginning. Maybe its about daves split with his then wife, Jennifer. He seems to be saying'could i ever feel this way about you forever'. maybe hes growing out of love with her but is desperately trying not to. |

why havent more people commented on this song? it has a pretty simple meaning, to me anyway, its about not being sure of what you want in life and all these people telling you what to do. you grow up with security and an image of all these things we should be doing, and sometimes its scarier to break away from the 'norm' and do what you want to, rather than follow every1 else into a dead end job. thats how i see it anyway!! im doin my as levels and have decided it isnt what i want to do so am quitting to go to college and study art and music. i cant wait! xxx |

but he was soooo wasted, and this girl stood rite behind me kepy screaming'julian marry me' and it wudve bin funny except she was pissing people off lol. i have to say, i was too small to see behind me but i think there mutsve been thousands of people crammed into that field trying to get as close as poss to the guys.i was so close to the front but it was like riding a wave, you had to go with the surge otherwise you probably wud die. hahahaha anyway, they sang at least 20 songs and were full of electricity. fab was on top form, and niko was there to keep them all under control. albert was v. subdued and bleary eyed which was weird, but valensi was wearing the tightest whitest jeans youve ever seen, are you sure that guy aint gay?! they even played an encore, and did a cover of the clash which was amazing. altogether it was out of this world, which wouldve been made even better if i could have a) breathed b) jules wudve taken his sunnies off and c) the fat hairy very tall guy wudnt have been standing on my foot for the whole of reptilia. hahahaha soz for rambling, tell me about ur experiences at gigs if u get a chance peace out x |

he is hot, but god i wish he'd play sober for once. i was a bit disapointed when i went to see them, cos i got so close to the front but he kept his shades on the whole time and slurred all the way thru, but the music was still amazing. he kept saying'get me some fucking vodka' and'i like to do 2 things-drink and fuck' and i was like'ok, very charming' lol. he seemed like he was having a gd time, and halfway through he started to 'interview' the other guys-albert just looked at him like he was crazy! |

this sounds dead cheesy, so i apologize now....but this song means so much to me!! when i was doing my GCSE's i listened to it before every exam and it wasn't gd actually cos it got me all hyped up and then i was too excited lol. also, it was thr first song i heard while squished between lots of stoned people(i wasnt one of em) and i cudnt see anything or even breathe cos i had a chest infection....it was dark and smoky and cold and it started to rain....then the rifts started.It was v festival 2004 and i was with my mate zoe...we picked up some hot guys and managed to dance all the way through the strokes set without collapsing...although embarrassingly i fainted for like 1 minute halfway through meet me in the bathroom...there was a huge surge and i cud only breathe through my mouth a little bit and lets just say the cute guy caught me ;) xxx sorry for rambling i just love the strokes........xx |

i agree with googlegirl77.....this is a raw song and is a bit weird at first, but damien rice is first and foremost a brilliant poet, and this song is like a red, raw angry poem and he does it brilliantly, just cuase it isnt as romantic as his other stuff doesnt mean it isnt good. i really love it and like it more and more each time i listen to it. no offence, but sometimes women just wanna have the chance to be like men and this speaks of equality.why do women have to be 'fragile'? for gods sake we are in the 21st century and theres no difference between a man and a women going out , getting stoned and getting laid. even if it does make you men wince to think about it. p.p.s doesnt damien rice have the sexiest voice?makes my knees weak -brilliantxxxxp.p.s if people think this has bad language, umm, how about subjecting yourself to the torture of slipknot then you'll reconsider(wimps) |
