| Blink-182 – Happy Holidays, You Bastard Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
fuck blink-182. they're the musical equilivant of a mentally-retarded frat boy, and this song is the perfect example of that. if this is the kind of immature bullshit you like, enjoy. frankly, i could go for some music that actually says something. and to everyone who said things like "OMG U GUYS THIS SONG RLY SHOWS PRFCTLY WHAT HOLIDAYS R ABOUT LOL!", i think it's time you seriously reconsider your conceptions about christmas and labor day. |

et il, le jour, est arrivé et je tournerai au ciel et je deviendrai la mer et la mer, elle a fait ça faisable qu'on peut aller chez moi rien peut m'arrêter... (this repeats several times) these may not be the perfectly correct lyrics to the song, as i deciphered them myself, but i hadn't ever really found any french lyrics to this song that seemed right. here's what it means: and it, the day, has arrived and i will turn to the sky (or "turn into the sky") and i will become the sea and the sea, she has made it possible for one to return to me nothing can stop me... (this repeats several times) |

| The Faint – Worked Up So Sexual Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
i *am* a stripper and yeah, this song is catchy as fuck but a little insulting. every woman working at my club does it so she can work very few hours and still make a decent living. lines like "would she miss a job that's sexual?" imply that we are all sex-crazed animals or something and we do this to get off. no, she wouldnt necessarily miss it--its just a job. and the line "is it good to get these men worked up so sexual?" irritates me because once again women take the blame for men's sexual feelings. [reminiscent of blaming the victim for what she was wearing at the time of a rape.] "older dancers gag at what new talent seems to mean. smaller tits and younger limbs can cause a fit of rivalry." to me this line belies the writers belief that women cant be involved in something together without being shallow, competitive and catty. id love to hear other sex workers and feminists weigh in on this. holy shit you've got to be kidding me. look, a common theme for the faint is to insert social commentary undertones into their song. all this song is meant to ask the listener is: "yes, prostitution and stripping is exploitative to women, but isn't it also exploitive to the men who go to these places?" as shuttrrbug put it: "i *am* a stripper and yeah, this song is catchy as fuck but a little insulting. every woman working at my club does it so she can work very few hours and still make a decent living." yes, well what makes you feel you have the right to take money away from men who worked hard for it, simply by taking advantage of their sexual desires? this is the point this song tries to bring up. and if you feel thats insulting to strippers and prostitutes, thats your opinion. but since when has it been a bad thing to speak poorly of strippers and prostitutes? |

| P.O.D. – Abortion Is Murder Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| you know what? pod is a great band... but if you agree with the words in this song, then you're a fucking fascist. and don't start with all this "why be prochoice if it could have happened to you?" bullshit. it doesn't matter! you are not yet ALIVE AND FUNCTIONING. abortion is like destroying a chicken egg. you're not eating the fucking chicken! | |

| Our Lady Peace – Superman's Dead Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| i think this song about suicide. he's bullied all the time, and finally he can't take it anymore, so he kills himself. but maybe if people hadn't treated him so badly, he could have grown up to do amazing things. he was superman, and now hes dead. | |

| Tool – Opiate Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Its a song about this guy who hasn't been a good... whatever his religion is... and something in his life as gone wrong, so he blames the fact that he's not been a good person religiously on that. so he falls into this pit of blind worship, failing to realize that religion pillage his soul without ever answering why an all-loving god did that to him. | |
| Tool – Eulogy Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| i think this song is pointing out the irony of being a martyr. a person can truely believe they are a martyr, dedicate their life to being a martyr, and eventually dying for everyone else's sins or sacrificing himself or whatever, but if you were a true martyr you wouldn't have the egomaniacal sense of being a martyr. it's basically like "you screamed at us to change ourselves. we didn't. so you killed yourself to save us. you tried to be one with god, oops, you're not. your bad. have fun being dead" does that make sense? | |
| Incubus – A Certain Shade of Green Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| i love the way whenever someone can't figure out what a song is about they naturally assume that its a "drug song" | |
| Primus – The Toys Go Winding Down Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| it's like a guy that was in some sort of rehab or mental health center... aka "the wing" and he leaves with this huge smile on his face and is all excited to be entering normal life but he is instantly trampled by society... we are all animals trapped in a cage... and we can escape if we want to but the currents would be a bit too fast... and at the end hes back at the clinic for "pudding time"... the scheduled feeding of easy-to-digest gloop...it's a really depressing song. at least thats the way i interpret it. | |

|
yeah, the video is pretty fucked up. err... ive really been thinking about this song alot... and i can't really figure out exactly what its about... i think its about how much the world values lust and fame.... but when we think about it all it really is a combination of our 5 senses... does that make any sense at all? |
