Even songs that appear to have no meaning, have meaning because they came from a person. Always at least on a subconcious level a writer may be communicating to you something about himself that even he may not be ready to admit. This song kicks butt live. Dave I believe does the right thing(drive in) but then sometimes does the wrong thing and wishes he didn't have to take responsibility for it but can't help but to take responsibility for it.(drive out). |

This song is definitely about Dave's Drinking problem. It's a good description of what probably anyone is feeling who has an addiction. Someone who has guilt about their natural state of mind and how some how you should be different and nicer and better. |
