This song is so meaningful to me. I'm in a relationship with an Army soldier and he's getting deployed in October for 15 months. Over the summer we were both out of phone reception and he was surrounded by guys telling him that I was going to cheat on him because that's what all Army g/fs do. So he broke up with me thinking that everything would be better that way while he was gone. He had a hard time believing that I truly love him enough to stay faithful. It was all so frustrating and the lines: "Get up get out get away from these liars 'cause they don't get your soul or your fire. Take my hand knot your fingers through mine And we'll walk through this dark room for the last time." ...ah, they just hit home! Everything worked out but I sent him these song lyrics because I seriously needed him to open his eyes and realize I'm not going anywhere! guh! |

I love this song. It explains my summer perfectly. I spent it in Alaska working with a friend, and it was the best time of my entire life. I just love how it's about a summer that you can't ever go back for and that no one really knows how it was like, and the only thing you have to show for it is a photograph and memories. Great song. One of my favorites. |

I don't think this song talks about how he is still in love with her. I think it's saying that she has a new beau and that he treats her pretty good, even though she doesn't really care about him, still being in love with the narrator. He's saying that though there were good things going on in their relationship, he would rather bury it all and forget about it. "secretly, i want to bury in the yard, the gray remains of a friendship scarred." I agree the intro is him taking an intrest in her sex life, to see if even though she still professes love for him, if she's sleeping with the guy she's with now. I agree with subterranean with the statement that she's cheapening everything they had together by 'bleeding the sweetness away'. |
