It's not that he's Pantera-influenced, he's just changing his vocal style. Listen to some of their stuff from when they were Burn The Priest...he does some of the same stuff there that he's doing here. He's not using his voice processor as much and relying more on his real voice. And yes he does use vocal effects. But it still fucking rocks! |

I think that it's about him screwing up a relationship and looking back at what he had. I don't think it's about God (even though they are a christian band). Just look at the wording: "the torment of your eyes has awakened my soul." Nobody alive has seen the eyes of God. He's gotta be thinking about his girlfriend. |

I don't care how cliche' it is to say, because this song kicks an unfathomable amount of ass. The video's sweet, and Jesse's vocals are bangin' on all cylinders for this album. KsE is right up there with Shadows Fall, Unearth, God Forbid, and all of the other new heavy metal acts that have surfaced over the past few years. Mark my words: within the next few years, metal is going to overcome emo and pop-punk. When that day comes, we true metalheads will reign supreme in the music industry! Definitely one of the best KsE songs ever. I like Jesse's vocals better than Howard's, but there's no way they could have found a better replacement than Howard. I mean, he was on tour with the band A WEEK after he and his drummer joined the band! Plus he can screech like the best of them ("the best of them" being Jesse). But I still like Jesse's voice better. |

It's definitely about the end of the world due to a nuclear war. "Winter it will send;" duh! Nuclear winter. "Death of mother earth;" it takes 300 years (i think) for the radiation to drop to a non-deadly state. Nobody will survive underground long enough to rebuild, hence "never a rebirth." I could continue breaking it down line by line, but I think we're all smart enough to figure it out (at least I hope so). |

It's talking about television. "Staring forward with vacant eyes"--you turn to this box for entertainment and completely veg-out. After a while, you begin to depend on seeing the next episode of your favorite show. Then, you can't stand it when you miss part of a show because you were in the bathroom between commercials and took too long. Then you start freaking out whenever you put the remote on the wrong side of the coffee table and you have to get back up to get it. Pretty soon your whole life depends on the boob tube. If there's nothing good on, you suddenly can't find anything to occupy your time. So what then? Easy. Just watch the TV Guide channel for an entire half-hour, then you can plan out the next hour of your life by finding out what's coming on next. Pathetic. Of course I do these things!! How do you think I know so much about it? Personal experience, my friend, for I am a lazy good-for-nothing and proud of it. I love this song because when I'm driving down the road, I am flooded with fond memories of my TV. Wow, I truly am pathetic. :) |

Carpe Diem. Don't live your life worrying about dying; people seem to die faster when they live like that. Some people could look at this song and maybe go too deep and say that he's talking about the eternity that you receive when you accept Christ. But since SF isn't a Christian metal band, I doubt that was his intent when he wrote these lyrics. |
