The lyrics remind me a little of the plot of the movie L.I.E.. I got Sophtware Slump around the time I saw that movie (even though I had heard the song a couple of times before).. |

Juicyclad: "i always thought this song was about sex...."
Maybe. This song is one giant figurative orgasm set to music. It could be about sex or just unrestrained joy. Who knows whether he meant it to be or not, it is truly brilliant. |

This is such a great song. Very pretty. I was listening to it on a flight from Frankfurt to Boston once and, looking down at the sea seven miles below, it became very relative ("The wind will take you / It will lift you / Across the ocean"). It made the 747 I was in seem so small. |

I think that she is trying to get someone's opinion on her sweater. She is sure to point out its fit to the person to whom the question is addressed. |

I always thought it was about unrequited or unfulfilled love and fantasies associated with it.. This song just spells out pretty much everything one goes through when dealing with it.. |

| Heatmiser – The Fix Is In Lyrics

This song is testimony to Elliott Smith's genius and is evidence of the differences in style between Smith and Neil Gust. It may be one of Elliott's most underrated songs.
It seems to be an outsider's point of view of a break up. A friend trying to console and let his friend know that he needs to let go. It may be tough, but that it is something that he has to live with, that he'll be there for him, but that he will no longer aid his friend in the fantasy that he's gonna win his lost love back. It's kind of a smack in the face. |

Anyone who has ever ridden a long distance train will know that a lot of what is described in this song is what one would see when looking out the window. It has some really great imagery. I have known this song for years and never made the full connection until after I had gone cross country and to the South by train. The bells mentioned, by the way are probably the warning bells on the locomotive that are rung as a train aproaches a station. |

I would venture to guess that its about not heeding advice from a friend, but realizing in the end that that friend may be right. |

I don't see the drug reference at all. I think it is about realizing that one is better than their self esteem allowed them to believe. Like an epiphany of sorts, emerging with a new outlook on life. I hear it as a pretty positive song.. |
