I think 1000 Meere is about a couple that was separated, by 1000 seas, and they're trying to get back to each other. The imagery makes me think of a very large distance, nigh impossible to cross, that they're facing anyway. 'Wir mussen nur noch 1000 Meere weit, 1000 dunkle Jahre ohne Zeit. 1000 Sterne zieh'n vorbei...' [we must go only 1000 seas farther, 1000 dark timeless years. 1000 stars passing by...] makes me think of a type of optimism and how when you're fighting for love that you're willing to climb any mountain. 'Lass dich zu mir treiben, ich lass mich zu dir treiben' describes how they want to be reunited, and it illustrates the their journey is separate. But the one narrating [I shall say Bill] has preserved the memory of his [lover? let's just say Tom ;)] that he 'carries' with him to help him get through it ['Dein Bild ist sicher, ich trag's in mir.' [Your picture is safe, I carry it within myself']] |

None of these lyrics are right. That is the German translation, but it's incorrect. *THE LYRICS OFF SCREAM ARE NOT A DIRECT TRANSLATION* Despite what Bill says, the translation is not exactly one on one. You cannot trust the lyrics off the Scream album to give you the lyric translations. There are BIG differences. |

This song can't be about abortion. When your born, they cut off your ambilicle (sp?) cord, and then you're immediately separated from 'life and limb', or your mother, since she had carried you for four months. If it were about abortion, then this part wouldn't make sense: "Your navel is yearning for an extension A ghost limb, it can't detach from mother's loving grasp" When a child is a aborted, the ambilicle cord would still be there, and then there'd be no yearning navel. Anyway, I think this song is about how when your born you start to realize how big everything is compared to the womb you've just spent 9 months in. You were just 'Stranded an infant on the front step of the universe' like the song says. :] |

People use pain to releive other pains. They're saying that people are using drugs and things to make them feel better. I agree totally with antisocialkatie. The government is controlling the media to what it says about the government and what information we are given while the real information is 'locked in a tower', or only known to the exuctive part of the government most likely, and only 'barons will hold the key', or the President keeps this knowledge locked up. And while the public thinks they are being fully informed, there are cover-ups and more truths behind every sentence the media feeds us. |
