I don't think the lyrics speak to the son, but the mother. Trust you gave -- you (the mother) gave to God A child to save -- your son, why you trusted god Left you cold and him in grave -- god failed, leaving you cold and alone and leaving him (your son) in the grave. Maybe it also should be "left you cold and Him in grave," implying that god failed, left you cold and alone, and you lost your faith by leaving Him (god) in the grave (with your son). So I don't think it was written from James' personal viewpoint, just about his general experience with Christian Science. |

I love how every song off of Garage has at least one person screaming "they covered it! It's not even theirs!" No shit people, that's the idea. The song's about a really greedy guy, as vilenin said. He loses everything in his life except his cash, but he still seeks only money. Anyway, find Around the World by Red Hot Chili Peppers and listen to the intro. Sound familiar? |
