The Monkees – Cuddly Toy Lyrics 21 years ago
I started really liking the Monkees when I was in 1st grade (1986). Of course back then I never understood songs, I just like to listen to the beat and whatnot, and the lyrics were just silly to me. So now as an adult I listen to these songs again, and I'm like, woah! This song is so sleezy! It's all about using a girl and then telling her, hey, you're not the only one I've used or that any man has used. It's really interesting too how the song is so bouncy and sounds so innocent, until you listen to the words. Such is the genius of the monkees.

Elton John – This Train Don't Stop There Anymore Lyrics 21 years ago
I've heard that this song is about Elton John not doing coke anymore. I can never hear this song without remembering an argument I got into with someone. We were in the car and an Elton John song came on, and I was trying to make conversation so I said, "oh I love Elton John, I went to see him and Billy Joel and it was a great show!" and she said "Oh, I like him too, and he's so admirable, he's never done drugs..." I sat there with my mouth open for a few seconds, unable to say anything, and then I'm like, "Elton John was a drug ADDICT. He's admitted. He even said that the song "this train don't stop there anymore" was about him not doing coke anymore! She got very quiet, but then she just said "He didn't do drugs." I gave up. And I didn't have the heart to tell her he was gay, too.

Harry Chapin – Let Time Go Lightly Lyrics 21 years ago
Another one I can't believe that no one has commented on. It wasn't one of my favorite songs, and for awhile I never paid attention when it came on or I would skip it. But the line "music has been my oldest friend, my fiercest foe. It can take me so high, yes it can make me so low" is just so much how I feel about music. Harry put that feeling into words so well (as he did with a lot of feelings)!

Harry Chapin – A Better Place To Be Lyrics 21 years ago
I can't believe no one has commented on this song yet! This is the song that got me into Harry Chapin, because it's just so beautiful. I like the version from "Greatest Stories: Live" better than the original. The meaning is right there is the song: "Loving someone is a better way to be." I identify with all three characters in the song. The waitress who "tries to fight her empty nights by smiling at the world." The midnight watchman who stumbles trying to speak to someone beautiful, and the woman who feels that temporary love is better than no love at all. I highly recommend giving this song a listen.

U2 – Fast Cars Lyrics 21 years ago
But why comic book guy? Why?
This is actually one of my favorite songs on the new CD. I love the beat. I don't really know what it's about, but I still love it.
