| The Killers – Why Don't You Find Out for Yourself? (Morrissey cover) Lyrics

Wow...really good Morrissey cover. This song is about how people in the music industry care about one thing, which is money. Morrissey is warning other bands that being big isn't all its cracked up to be. Those in the music industry will stop at nothing to rake in the cash without even taking into consideration the amount of stress it puts on the artist. |

I can see why people like this version better, but i definitally don't. Weezer's version is more grungy, but it lacks something that was present in the pixies velouria...that dreamy obscure space age surf rock that made the song so unique. Some of the lyrics above are messed up. hold my head, we'll trampoline...onto somewhere near and far in time....how does lemur (as in the sister city of atlantis, Lemuria) skin reflect the sea. |

| Pixies – Velouria Lyrics

"It's the same character, the same imagery. Part of the same lore of Northern California, and Mount Shasta. This woman that I have in mind she's covered in velour. She's like a lemur. She's human, but she's kind of like a cat. She's feline, because she's covered in this short soft hair. Velvety. I suppose it's partially based on my wife, mixed in with lots of other things, things that I've read and things that I've seen when driving around that part of the world, that area of Mt. Shasta."
This is part of a interview with Frank Black, and it pretty much sums up what this song is about. Its not about drugs like some people think. I just don't see the references. But hey, its better than my first guess. I thought this song was about oral sex:S Anyway, The Pixies are fucking genius and the Weezer version just doesnt hold up to the real deal. |
