This and Good Enough are no doubt my favorites on the new album. I agree that anyone who's dealt with depression would be able to relate to this song. Sometimes it feels a lot better and safer to stay in a dark place. You know it's not really right and you want to feel better, but at the same time, being down is what you're used to. It almost feels better NOT to feel better, as much of a contradiction as that may be. Eh, I dunno. I suck at describing things. That probably won't make any sense unless you've experienced it. :S |

| This song never fails to make me think about my relationship with my ever so amazing boyfriend. To me, it's about actually being happy and content for once, and finding a person who actually makes you feel like you're a good person. But at the same time, you're scared, because you know you're making yourself vulnerable by loving them so much, and you've been hurt by doing that in the past. You keep thinking that things are going to go wrong the way they have before--"I'm still waiting for the rain to fall." And you can't help but wonder if you really deserve the happiness you've found--"Am I good enough for you to love me too?" But all in all...you're content. You're hopeful for the future. And you feel...like for once in your life, you're good enough. | |

I suppose it could be about God if you want to see it that way. Personally, I think the only Ev songs that are intended to have anything to do with God are Tourniquet and October. But every person relates to songs in different ways. The lyrics are fairly straightforward. It's about deeply and unselfishly loving someone who's going through a rough time, and being willing to do anything to stop their pain--even take it on your own shoulders. I really love this song...it's beautiful, and it speaks very deeply to me because I've felt that way towards more than one person. |

Okay, so far I can't manage to find the Ev version of this song anywhere. If anyone has a copy of it and doesn't mind sending it to me--plus any other Ev covers besides Thoughtless, Heart-Shaped Box, and Zero--I'd love you forever if you could email it to me: wiseoldunicorn@earthlink.net |

| Yep, the background vocals are done by David Hodges. -nod- | |

| Y'know RedSolemnBlade, I used to think exactly the same thing. But then it just grew on me one day. I dunno. O_o | |

Heh, I didn't read them all either. I tried, but I could feel it slowly sucking away the little intelligence I have, so I quit while I was ahead. And hey, so you don't like Amy Lee or don't think she's a real goth. That's fine. You're welcome to your opinion. But music is supposed to be about MUSIC, not about the people singing it. There's plenty of artists who I don't necessarily approve of THEM personally, but I thoroughly enjoy their music. So, yeah. If you're going to bash Evanescence, do it about their songs, not about how much Amy Lee sucks. Oh, and I don't consider "it sux" to be an intelligent discussion on the quality of the music, either. Whee, I'm a bitch today. -dances like a dork- |

Erm, I agree with what everybody else said. This version was released on the Evanescence EP, and you can really tell by listening to it that Amy's gotten better since then. This gives me hope that with enough practice, I too can become a rock star! ...Okay, maybe not. But yeah. =p |

Well, I was going to comment on the religious thing, but divinediscontent already said everything I was going to. -round of applause- If I was intelligent, I would speculate here on why the song is called October. But I can't, as I honestly have no clue. O_o But...yeah, this is a very beautiful song. And I think that's it. -nod- P.S. I lied, I do have one thing to say. This song and Tourniquet are the only two Evanescence songs that I actually interpret as being about God. Just because it's the only interpretation that fits perfectly--having run away from God, turned your back on your faith, then realizing what a mistake you've made and coming back to ask God for forgiveness. It doesn't necessarily have to just be the Christian God either--whatever higher power you personally believe in, it still works. But hey, feel free to interpret the song however you want to. Everybody can look at it and see two totally different things. That's what the little question thinger says "What does this song mean to YOU?" instead of just "What does this song mean?" Yeah, that was long. I'll shut up now. O_o |

| Evanescence – My Last Breath Lyrics | 21 years ago |

One correction: It's "sweet raptured light," not "sweet rapture and life." Yeah, just being my usual nit-picky self. I would say something else, but I can't think of anything. O_o |

| Evanescence – Exodus Lyrics | 21 years ago |

Well, my interpretation is that it's about a girl who's running away from home. For years she's lived with people who can't accept her, hiding who she really is, but finally she's had enough, so she packs it all up in her black backpack and leaves with nothing more than twenty bucks. Even though she ends up on the street and alone, she feels that situation is better than being back at home, unable to really be herself. Or something along those lines. Yeah. |

| Evanescence – Anything For You Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
"Have you left to make me feel anymore" Should be "Nothing left to make me feel anymore" Yep. I would say more, but anything I could think of to say has already been said, so...yeah. Anyways, great song. -nod- |

Well, normally I'd try to avoid commenting unless I had something new and constructive to add, but I just have to say that this is quite possibly my favorite Evanescence song (and that's saying something, considering how much I love all their music). I, too, a hopeless romantic...this was the first non-Fallen Evanescence song I ever heard, and it completely blew me away the very first time I heard it. The guitar solo? Absolutely amazing. Anyway, I'm basically rambling here, but...if you haven't heard this song, you need to. Even if you don't like Evanescence, listen to it anyway--it's that good. Go listen to it. NOW. =p |
