well, i didn't get a 9/11 vibe out of this at all. however, my interpretation doesn't fit in with the "waves of perfect plastic fame" part. so i just kinda skipped over those. i know that part is probably really important, but oh well. my interpretation was that he has died and is now damned in hell (anathema, from below, seclusion). he looks up and sees that hell is taking over heaven (statues falling). then "from above a rain of ashes descends" is the ashes of the angels and those in heaven. the paper wings are the angels' wings and he's watching hell conquer heaven and enjoying it (i am ever enthralled). the second verse is talking about life after hell has taken over (no life, no light). the dancing part is hell celebrating after they've won. he sees his enemies, former heaven dwellers, suffering and being tortured (i'll see you all falling) and he knows he has the power to relieve their pain (i'd stop it), but wants them to suffer because of the pain they caused him during life. |
