| I love the part in the second video for this song where Frank says, "You know, you've got something in your eye." Then it looks as if he's going to kiss the girl, but instead he pokes her in the eye and wipes the crud off on her arm. Priceless. I think I like the video more than the actual song. It just feels as if this song doesn't fit with the rest of the cd. | |

| I'm now thinking that this song may have to do with how people get obsessed with the media and fame. How entertainment is the most powerful industry and we idolize famous people even though they are nothing more than humans themselves. "as you search for your demi-god" Then the reference to Zen which thrives on the belief that self-contemplation or direct intuitive insight, rather than devotion is the path to enlightenment. I don't know...I may be digging too deep, but that's what I get out of it. | |

Wow, this song has been discussed a lot. Anyway, for me this songs has always made me think of that age-old conversation between a teenager and his/her parent: "But all my friends are doing/have it!" "If all your friends jumped off a cliff, would you jump too? I didn't think so..." The particular person in the song actually decideds to jump because he bought the lie that society has told him about being different; that you will be always be alone, and you'll never be happy if you don't do/have what everyone else does. |
