Sigh there are several obvious mistakes i noticed just by listening to the songand reading the above lyrics, some have been mentiond, but i cant be bothered to point them all out, theres to many 5-6 i guess. Its an ok song, not 1 of my favorites. I dont drink, partly cause im to young, thought that dosent stop my friends, and partly cause i've chosen not to. Anyway to country for me, and i cant relate to it because ive never been in a state where ive had to rely on alchohol So yeah, i suppose this is a worthless comment, hope you enjoyed it. |

The impact, the aftershave, the european cigarettes The taxi, the alcohol that lingers on your breath The lipstick, the street lamp, the woolen overcoat The front desk, you tell yourself, it isn't over yet its from the wife/husband of the cheater because it says "you tell yourself, it isn't over yet" i think "it" refers to the marrage, saying there not going to end it yet. the the taxi,aftershave ect. are clues that the wife /husband have noticed about the other person. I think it would be the wife because of the mention of lipstick and aftershave. the second verse, i think is from the cheaters point of veiw, explaining the motions and emotions he/she (prob he) does/goes through with his mistress. but the second verse could also be from the veiw of the women the cheater is with. She feels second best to the wife, and so what she does with him is now empty. So I'm going with this. The loyal wife feels second best to the women her husband is cheating with, but the women feels second best to the wife. So the first verse and the first courses is from the wife, the second verse and chorus are from the mistress. make sense? |

| 1 of my favorite songs for a long time. To clear things up, just incase they need clearing, arienette is not real. She is mentioned in Sunrise Sunset also where he says "sunrise sunset where are you arienette" In that fake interveiw at the end of "an attempt to tip the scales" he says she is real, then states that she is made up then says she is "as real as you or i" I know the interveiw is fake, but i think its created to show people how stupid they are for believing every word he sings. So i believe that Arienette is, indeed , made up, but that she represents protecion, as she is the women he always calls out to. I hope that made sense. I love how he is able to use things such as water to represent such emotions as desperation. | |

| Ok well the meaning of the song has been cleared up i suppose, though i think people read to far into songs. Yes conor writes not only about his own experiences, but mostly about either those of others or about random things in his mind. In the sense that he has these things in the back of his mind, and like all of us, he is completly unaware of these things, these worlds, these stories and events, until they flow out onto paper in the form of, in his case, a song. So i dont believe this is about an experience of his own. Though it very well could be. I guess I'm saying that not all of his songs are "real" "true" events and they didnt all, nessarily, happen to him and I think this is 1 of these such songs. Sorry if i confused you. | |

| ah i hate commenting more then once yournamehere Arienette is mentioned in several songs including Arienette and sunrise sunset. At the end of sunrise sunset he clearly says "where are you Arienette?" and the song Arienette is about many things. Anyway she is a women, whether or not she is fictional i'm not sure, though i always percieved her as Conor simbol of women. By refering to Arienette i always thought of it as refering to the women he is asscioated with at the time, or just women in general. | |

Sigh i hate when people say things they think are right. Emo by definition is Emotionally charged music. It has nothing to do with genre and yes Bright Eye's is an Emo Band because every song written by Conor is full of emotion and think feeling. Punk music can be emotional, So can country. It's just normally refered to as punk. Though bright eye's is the thickest, most amazing, strongest, emo music I've ever heard. Ilove it. |

This is my favorite bright eyes song,so i felt the need to comment on it. I love it, it connects with me so much. At the end as he screams "like snow, like gold" oh how his voice captures everything so perfectly. This is the only song to ever bring me to tears, sadly, as most cry over his songs like "padriac my prince" this song just makes so much sense to me, i understand every line, and feel like he's directing every last word to me! I love the part "So when your new eyes meet mine they wont see no lies...just love. Just love. I will be pure. No No i know i will be pure! Like snow like gold. ((so please forgive what i have done but you cant mad at the saturday sun.Cause we all get tired I mean eventually there is nothing left to do but sleep))" I am listening to this song over and over as i comment. | Wow opinions by the many. I was introduced to bright eyes by my brother about july of this year, and have been listening to them daily sense. I LOVE BRIGHT EYES. i really dont want them to become the new thing. God popularity and a few more fans would be great for conor but terrible for the fans that have loved them, him, sense before the new "top chart hits" Concerts will be incredably annoying, and people will pretend to "get" things they dont, how i loathe the day that happens. Reminds me of the sudden obsession with greenday. sigh...i love bright eyes but hate craze fans. Sadly Conor did not have a brother who died...i suppose thats not sad. Anyway I love this song, i suppose that's because i love bright eyes. This song is terribly sad and has brought alot of criticism on to Conor. Whenever Conor Oberst and bright eyes is mentioned this song seems to follow. Many of his songs are written out of no where, there not events that he has experienced or that others have, they are events in his mind, they are what flows out when his pen touches his paper. It's simple to understand. They are worlds inside his head in a sense, and I'm sure he is completly unaware of their exsistence until they poor out. I think people try to tie the events and words in his song together to much. In no way, do i think, that Conor's mention of seeing the future in this song, for instence, relates to his mention of how babys go blue when ignored, in the same way, i do not think, that the blue baby, in anyway relates to the brother entioned in the begining. Conor mentions random things, inways he makes them relates, and by repeating certain things, or mentioning certain things he ties these compleltly irrelivent events together. I realize i may not have made much sense, but that is my opinion. |
