This song is definitely about unwanted pregnancy. In an interview tori said that "Boy you best pray that I bleed real soon" was a direct reference to the possibility of unwanted pregnancy. She said that everyone is writing songs, but she writes songs about the real things, the things no one else wants to write about. The harsh truths of the world. |

This song seems to be about suicide. Looking at the lyrics: "line up the dots", the obvious meaning of this is the dots on a medicine bottle that you have to align in order to access the pills. An medicines have been called elixirs, so therefore and elixir of quietude could be the elixir of death. Also, when a person overdoses with the goal of death, they have usually consumed alcohol, hence the reference to matrinis and alcohol.
