| Streetlight Manifesto – Down Down Down to Mephisto's Cafe Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I don't think the man with kindness in his eyes is a refrence to Jesus. Jesus made his view pretty clear, and made the sides well defined. To say that Jesus doesn't care what your stance is on the existance of God is a total blasphemy of religion. Also, the line "So fuck the flocks of sheep that keep amassing masses / Asses being led so far astray" The term "mass" is the word used by catholics for a church service. In the olden days, many people couldn't read, and so they took for fact everything that the priest would say. If you ever take a humanities class, you'll learn about all the wonderful things catholicism has done over the years that are totally opposite of what Christianity preaches. Side note: My mother grew up catholic in the 1950's. Even then, families weren't supposed to own their own bibles.. They were still supposed to trust only the priest when it came to scripture. The line about agenda magizines makes me think of the tons of tracts and things you get on every street corner in a major city, and also the mags that Jehovahs witnesses always hand out. |

| Catch 22 – On & On & On Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yeah, its about a gang fight, i agree, but the "3 years 2 months, 1 week, 4 days" makes me think that hes refering to a prison sentance.. like he went to jail for killing someone in the fight. To me, the girl was a girl that he was in love with, but he wants her to go on without him, cause of the jail thing. Has anyone heard streetlight manifesto's version of this song? its pretty kickass. |

| Streetlight Manifesto – Failing, Flailing Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| haha. i am torn.. i am not to big on the first 4 or so minutes.. but like the last part, starting from "Nothing, you won't say nothing" is one of my favourite parts of any song from all time.. i always set the CD to that part of the song right before i get out, so as soon as i jump into it to go anywhere, its the first thing i hear.. gets me all excited and dancing and whatnot. | |
| Something Corporate – As You Sleep Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i think the "night sky fading red" refers to a sunrise.. i picture it as hes left for the road for something, and has to be away. the girl has his CD, and he telling her to close her eyes as he sings, so she can think of him. and even tho everyone has a copy of the song, he still means it for only her. the "as you sleep, and no one is listening" refers to how she actually hears the words that he says (kinda like simon and garfunkels sounds of silence).. she knows what he means by the words, and it raises her up and makes her feel good (as opposed to sinking into sadness at his absense). the soon i'll be leaving you part would refer to the fact that when she wakes up, the dream ends, she turns the music off, and goes about her day.. but yeah, he def. can't get over her. "in the car" would be him on the road.. i see the "searching for your star" as they have a special star that they look at when they are together.. and when they are on the road, they both look at it and know that the other one is looking at it too (kinda like the moon, but less cliche). its frustrating, beuase they are sharing a moment, but are too far apart to enjoy it. the radio singing his thoughts back to him refers to hearing his songs on the radio, and feeling all the emotion that he had when he originally felt when he wrote the song... just me thoughts.. i think its not as deep of a song as most of you make it out to be.. its just another ode to the suckiness of being on the road and missing the one you love. |

| Dire Straits – Romeo And Juliet Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i don't see him as a bum at all. the frist part of the song seems like the beginning of a relationship... hes wrote a song for her, and he thinks its the most amazing thing ever, and wants to tell everyone (layin everybody low, with a love song that he made).. when he gets to her place, he steps out under a light to get the spotlight effect as he sings to her (finds a streetlight, steps out of the shade") She tells him not to sing to her (shouldn't come...) and hes like you can't stop me! (whatcha gonan do about it). i agree with all of the middle verses about everything there. when he gets to the last verse, i see it as either Romeo still walks around, reminisicing about how it was before, singing up to the window that shes no longer at... or, as with a lot of folk songs (this has been said to be in a folk song style), they revisit the first verse at the end (like Golden Vanity, for example).. it gives it a closure to the story. |

| Relient K – Softer To Me Lyrics | 20 years ago |
man on TV.. be nice. Look at where you were 6 years ago, and see if you've changed even slightly. Lets face it, they've been on the road playing the same songs over and over and over.. i'd def. be sick of hearing marlyn manson ate my girlfriend day in and day out, let alone having to play it all the time. They get sick of their old stuff, they explore other areas.. their label isn't forcing that much.. They are simply just exploring thier horizions.. something that i am sure you've done countless times before. |

| Relient K – Be My Escape Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I think by "i'm giving up, i'm doing this alone now" has to do with not following other peoples ideas on what it takes to be righteous, and taking up your own cross.. not blaming others for your actions, but accepting fault for your sins. you can make plenty of other parallels between this song and religion (the line on grace, the last verse), and i would assume that it refrences this too. However, i Definately Love the piano in this song, and throughout the album.. And has anyone seen the music video. I think its amazing how much MattT doesn't look like a rock star in it. It makes me laugh |

| Something Corporate – Babies Of The 80's Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I'm another 82. did anyone remember when chucky-e-cheeses used to be showbiz pizza? And all those people born after 85.. esp.87, you're more of a babie of the 90's. Yeah, you have a slip and slide, you've seen ferris bueller, you know of jelly shoes. But kids that were born in 99 have slip and slides and tented beds, and will probably watch ferris bueller. The fact is that us babies of the 80's were around when this stuff FIRST came out. I remember watching the wall come down. I also remember seeing the episode of alvin and the chipmunks when they were in berlin, and it was one of those "lets be political, and try to get everyone behind knocking this wall down" things. But thats an episode none of you late 80's kids will ever see.. No offense, you remember it, but it doesn't hold the same merit as those people that were here before it. its like being around for the first time that electricity was turned on, or to own one of the first cars. You have electricity, and your family probably has multiple cars. you don't have the appreciation for it, cause you've never been without. |

| Blink-182 – Feeling This Lyrics | 21 years ago |
they had to take out the line with "fuck" in it, and since just about every song has a ryhming scheme, and its hard to carry it out with 7 lines, the dropped "i want to take off her clothes. Not so much that it was explicit, but more for what it implied. Also, i don't own the CD, but the last chorus sounds like tom is saying: "I'll be alone, you'll be left so lost in disillusion" It has a little more flow, and sounds like they are singing two seperate choruses at the same time. Also, for all those people who say that they've sold out, and the new album sucks, and they should go back to their old style: Think for a minute.. dude ranch was released in June of '97, and cheshire was released in 94.. assuming that they waited a few months from the completion date of the album to put it on the shelves, you're looking at 8 and 12 years, respectively. Think for a moment about who and how you were 8 years ago... have you changed at all? your clothing style, what you listen to, what you like to eat? if you were a preformer, and were on the road over half the year, playing the same songs, you'd prolly get sick of them, and want to play something else too. I can't blame them.. people grow up, people change. I don't think they, or any other musician for that matter, should be forced to play the same stuff over and over again. I think it be selling out if they did. |

| Le Tigre – T.K.O. Lyrics | 21 years ago |

| Fall Out Boy – It's Not a Side Effect of the Cocaine. I Am Thinking It Must Be Love. Lyrics | 21 years ago |
It sounds like world one time, then wound another.. the lyrics in the CD say world, so i am guessing its him saying that he wants her to shield him from the world... he wants to forget about everything around him, and just focus on her, and wants her to do the same. |

| Relient K – I Hate Christmas Parties Lyrics | 21 years ago |
the last line goes like: I hate Christmas parties. You offer me some punch, but i just shrug I hate Christmas parties. You and the cookie tray both hear my say "Bah humbug." But its a beautiful song. Quite possibly my fav. Christmas song of all time. This one and Konstantine by something corporate are the two main reasons that i am taking a piano class at college. |

| Tool – Schism Lyrics | 21 years ago |
ledzppn69, I don't think beliefs are necessarily bad. life is based on them. Science, and everything that we have techologically, is based on a belief system. If we didn't have that, we'd still be wandering around with rocks killing deer to live. And chances are, you are going to read what i type, and disagree.. Your disagreement will come from the fact that my belief system doesn't coenside with yours. beliefs don't stop your mind from functioning, they allow it to work on other things. Also, i'd like to point out that Catholicism and Christianity are not one in the same. Chirstianity encompasses any religion that believes that Jesus was the son of God, and came to save the world. Catholics believe that, along with lutherns, baptists, and methodists. Its the other rules that they have that set them apart. Just becuase Catholicism to you seems ignorant, doesn't mean that every christian is that way. Besides, catholicism isn't the be all and end all of the world either.. Right now, there are fewer catholics than ever in recent history. Peoples belief in a supreme being has gone up, but Catholicism itself is going down. But even the end of Catholicism won't solve the lack of communication. why don't you try to talk to one of the members of the religions who blow themselves up in the name of allah or what-have-you about understanding, and realizing that his religion isn't right, and that he should look at some other ideas. I don't think he'll unstrap the bomb on his chest and get one of those Testiments from the gideons or grab a phamphlet on buddha. Whats really keeping us from communication is deeper than religion. People don't want to listen to other people. They are right, no matter what. the problem lies in human nature. --by the way, i like the lego idea, too.. |
