This song is pretty straight forward to me, I haven't read all the comments but it seems you're all having some problems so I'll put my idea out there. "I was staring at the sky, just lookin' for a star To pray on or wish on or something like that I was havin' a sweet fix of a daydream of a boy Whose reality, I knew, was a hopeless to be had" "But then the dove of hope began its downward slope And I believed for a moment that my chances were approaching to be grabbed But as it came down near, so did a weary tear I thought it was a bird but it was just a paper bag" As mentioned before I think this verse is about expecting something amazing and being disappointed how anti-climatic reality becomes. Hunger hurts and I want him so bad, oh, it kills 'Cause I know I'm a mess he don't wanna clean up I got to fold 'cause these hands are too shaky to hold Hunger hurts but starvin' works when it costs Too much to love Hunger in this case the hunger for love, "Hunger hurts and I want him so bad, oh, it kills." It hurts because he doesn't want to put the effort into the relationship. She can't carry on in the relationship because she can't cope with the instability. As much as she loves him, being without him hurts her far less. And I went crazy again today, lookin' for a strand to climb Lookin' for a little hope Baby said he couldn't stay, wouldn't put his lips to mine And a fail to kiss is a fail to cope I said honey, I don't feel so good, don't feel justified Come on, put a little love here in my void He said it's all in your head and I said so's everything but he didn't get it I thought he was a man but he was just a little boy Going crazy is about her feeling depressed, looking for a little support, she asks him for a bit of affection but he brushes her off. She tells him she doesn't feel like he's being very loving. and he tells her "it's all in her head." I'm assuming everything is their relationship as a whole, and he's a little boy for being as selfish as he is. Think that covers it? |

This song is amazing, 'In another life, In another dream By a different name' Are my favorite lyrics in a song ever. This is one of the few songs words can't describe (very well) so I'm not even going to try xD |

I'd say hatrickpatrick is closest. This is my opinion, what I have picked up from this song. First of all think back to the first scene, in Feel Good Inc, before the music begins. We see a city; the two helicopters overhead, and the sound of sirens and a crash. We’ve built this around ourselves, and we believe it is good, but there is far more crime, and untrusting behaviour around now than there ever was before. We then focus on the Feel Good Inc tower, 2-D had to say that the tower ‘represents this. The palace we built has become a prison. In the video I'm just waking up from this yearlong hedonists dream, and I realise that maybe the fruits of success have turned sour.’ (See the meanings on the song feel good inc) This is how many people find themselves eventually… At this point Noodle is outside of the tower, on the floating island, 2-D also said ‘ you can see Noodle knows what's happening. But people have to wake up to it themselves. So that's what the video is about; being trapped by the things you make, and realising everyone else is caught up in it. Using it.’ So he’s said himself the Video is about being trapped. Everyone is trapped, in the society we live in, anyone who doesn’t follow normally find themselves few and far between, happy, but rare creatures. Like Noodle, she is happy, and knows well what’s going on, but she is pasted it. The first line in feel good inc, is to me what people tell themselves. ‘Feel good’ “This is what I set out to do, this was my dream, I SHOULD BE happy, I SHOULD feel good.” From 2-D’s face he looks worn, and tired, he’s realising this life is not possible anymore. He goes on to say in the song that the ‘system’ has them all going on a certain way, people want to break free but they can’t. He goes on to say about how the world outside this system feels… Noodle is the youngest member of gorillaz, and is still free in her bubble of innocent ignorance. “Windmill, windmill for the land Learn forever, hand in hand Take it all in on your stride It is sticking, falling down Love forever, love is free Let’s turn forever, you and me Windmill, windmill for the land Is everybody in?” Children are the only ones really free… Adults want to be free again… 2-D realises he wont truly be free again, and returns to his seat. We then see the Helicopters again, moving away from the Feel good tower… in El Mañana we first see Noodle’s eye open to sirens, at first it seems it doesn’t bother her, she’s smiling and continuing like she would normally. In paradise, in her fantasy. Everything is at peace. The Helicopters fly pasted, but it seems she has not yet noticed them. As they come closer she sees something is wrong, and gets to her feet. As the helicopters begin firing, she runs to the safety of the windmill. As a child would run to fantasy as a safety blanket. The helicopters then proceed to destroy Noodle’s fantasy. She leave the windmill, to look out at her island, it’s no longer beautiful, but it’s still there, even if it is a fragment. As they return to attack her again, she runs in fear, back to the windmill. Eventually the windmill ablaze begins to plummet to the ground. Noodles face screams fear as she falls from her fantasy to the hard earth. As the island hits the ground, it bursts into flames, and to add to it, the helicopter drops a bomb on it. We assume she hasn’t survived the fall, she is dead… the Innocence of Gorillaz is dead… “I saw that day, Lost my mind Lord, I'll find Maybe in time You'll want to be mine” Society kills a Childs innocence… |
