"It may be the need for something more to fill your life, which in Mae's case would be God." mae is not a christian band. they've stated this specifically on their website. while i don't doubt that some of the band members have christian beliefs, i don't think that they mean for all of their songs to be interpreted in a religious way. i've seen a lot of people on this site try to connect the songs to god somehow. a lot of them could be interpreted that way, but i doubt that they were written with that connection in mind; if they had been, mae would've just come out and said they were a christian band. anyways. this is a great song. |

I think this is one of MCR's best songs.. "Bert said that he wrote the song about one time when they were drunk and making out" That kind of clears up "You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us in Prison", huh? I wonder if that's really what the song is about? It seems to be a mix of maybe that event and just what it's like to be in prison.. dunno. |

This is a great song.. I think it ties in with the story about the man and satan and all that jazz. It's about the guy killing all of the people that he had to but I'm still trying to figure out how it's supposed to end. "and we're all dead now" <-- this line makes me think that maybe after he killed all 1000 people he found his girlfriend but she ended up being in hell with him? I'm not sure if someone was supposed to have killed her or the devil just played a trick on the guy and ended up having both of them dead. -shrugs- Just an idea. |

Hmm.. MCR doesn't really strike me as a straight edge kind of band o_O Maybe I'm wrong though. The whole 1000 souls thing is this: certain songs on this CD are telling the story of a man who was killed in a gunfight. He finds himself in hell and the devil tells him that his girlfriend (also in the fight) is still alive, and that if the man brings the devil 1000 souls of evil men that he'll find his girlfriend again. Something like that. So basically Mr. Dude has to go kill people. And stuff. lara_c -- Oooh, now it all makes sense. That just makes me love this song even more.. |

The beginning of the video: Ray: "You like D&D, Audrey Hepburn, Fangoria, Harry Houdini, and croquet. You can't swim, you can't dance, and you don't know karate. Face it, you're never gonna make it." Gerard: "I don't wanna make it. I just wanna..." I think everyone's pretty much got this song pinned. It's basically about how sucky and tough highschool can be and the fact that usually when asked kids don't say "I'm not okay." "I told you time and time again you sing the words but still don't know what it means" <-- personally that's my favorite line of the song. |
