The message I take from this song is to do with purpose. Some people have commented about not wasting time and having no regrets. I've always seen that as trying to ignore things which have happened and just lie to themselves. Purpose is one thing which makes our life worth living. All this talk about some prophecy should not be considered as a time to have done certain things by but a time to have found purpose by. All of our days on this Earth will inevitably come to an end. The warning is to make sure that no matter when that day comes for each of us, we know the reason why we were here. |

For me, this song always makes me think of my nextdoor neighbour. Without going into all the details of that (though it'll be pretty obvious)... I think that it could have been writen from a guy's perspective who once had a crush on a girl (though more likely an ex... but lets just go with my story). He realised that it was only a crush but the girl thinks that he loves her and always will. The guy sees how she's changed so much and has become so 'plastic' but still cares about her as a friend and wishes she would listen to him. She doesn't listen because she thinks that she is better than him. She thinks that she is right about everything and follows what she Thinks is normal and doesn't understand that what friends say isn't always true. It's also very interesting to note that when i was trying to teach her to play guitar early this year (before she freaked out once again and thought that it wasn't appropriate)... i played it to her and she didn't even consider that i was talking about her and saying "wake up you idiot, get over yourself already!!!" |
