| Autolux – Here Comes Everybody Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i just love the way this song sounds. just the way the sliding synth kind of blends in with the guitar. it's kind of hard to tell what this song is about. on the surface it seems like the 'you' in the song is a rebel or misfit in his/her peer group or school. they are acting like someone they are not to keep up a normal appearance. this stanza makes it obvious. 'here comes everybody from the outside they all want the same things that you hate turn your face back on and crack a smile here comes everybody you never cared for' but i believe that the song is about the person killing everybody that they dislike.i think that in 'soft soft silver bang like a banks hydraulics the air it hangs its head and your cat has passed out you polished off your thoughts in the banks hydraulics soft soft silver bang when the vaults are all shut ', 'soft soft silver bang' might refers to the sound of a gun being shot. 'you polished off your thoughts' seems to refer to the lack of emotion in the killing. then the person is tried, which is what 'the doubt it takes you down another step your only alibi comes just like sha la la sha la la ' refers to-- they have only one alibi and they are doubtful about their sentence. however i could be completely wrong. thoughts? |

| Handsome Boy Modeling School – I've Been Thinking (feat. Cat Power) Lyrics | 21 years ago |

I agree with precipitate... this song is so sexy, dark, and slightly bitter. like chocolate :) very lovely song to chill out to. I'd listen to a lot more of handsome boy modeling school if they collaborated with cat power again. |

| Belle & Sebastian – Step Into My Office, Baby Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| LOVE this song. at first the lyrics seem normal, but then you read into them more and they're really hinting at a controlling relationship, with a domineering female boss and a subordinate office worker... mmmmm. | |
| N.E.R.D. – Am I High Lyrics | 21 years ago |

ah hot song! i love how when you listen on surround sounds, there are always little comments on the left side. like when pharrell says, "I think I've loved you since our high school/But you only wanted friends of mine" there's a little voice saying "that crushed me." Has anyone noticed that? |

| Jane's Addiction – Jane Says Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
okay lovey, interesting i'm not going to make any assumptions on the meaning of this song, but god, it's amazing. if nothing else anybody can figure out, it is an incredible, frank portrait of a HUMAN BEING. so many lyricists forget what it means to be human; they need to listen to some JA and drop the angst. this song is beautiful and i think any woman can see a little Jane inside her. an amazing 'character sketch' of a flawed woman down the wrong path. simply sublime |

| Jane's Addiction – Just Because Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| the way i see this song is about a person, probably a woman, who's very beautiful and well-thought-of and trendy and has "got the most", but has become so ensconced in the ideal of the perfect popular person that she forgets to just do something for shits and kick back and be herself. this song says to me that compulsion and "just because" moments help a person stay real. | |
| Cat Power – I Don't Blame You Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| yeah, it sounds like kurt... and the first stanza sounds just like one of those really famous posters of him, you know the one? still, it could be about anyone... the lyrics aren't so wildly particular that there's no question. | |
| The Bravery – An Honest Mistake Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
This is a beautiful song and I love this band-- it's starting to gain a little buzz (even though the likeliest place to hear the songs is still Myspace.com) and I'm surprised it wasn't on here; I had to add it myself. I see this song as being about a meaningful, old friendship gone wrong. The first part critisizes the subject of the song; the second part, after the chorus, indicates that it was really the storyteller who had done something wrong. It is about the decay of a mutual relationship. |

| The Postal Service – The District Sleeps Alone Tonight Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Billy123's idea seems kind of fuzzy, but I do agree there's something funny going on at the beginning of the song... But I don't think it's about alcohol. I think it's about somebody's nervousness as they go to visit a friend or lover in a distant city. When they finally see them in the context of their friends, family, apartment, everyday life... they seem much different. The visitor feels out of place and lonely, thinking about how everything around him sleeps alone and he is kind of left out in the cold. "I'll wear my badge: a vinyl sticker with big block letters adherent to my chest that tells your new friends I am a visitor here: I am not permanent" I think the badge comment is not literal, but a metaphor that his behavior singles him out as an outsider, someone who is "not permanent" in his friend's life because of the severe differences between them. |

| U2 – Vertigo Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I, for one, love this song as a standalone, without comparing it to other U2 songs or other songs in the genre, or other songs my favourite radio station plays... I think if you listen to it with an open mind, it's just excellent. And although there's no "set in stone" meaning and it may lack the depth of some other U2 songs, there are some definite biblical/religious references worth chatting about. Plus I just love the "high" feeling... the song really does a good job recreating the simple but elusive to description feeling of being on top of the world. So. Love it for what it is on the surface (rocking euphora) or leave it. Peace. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – President of What? Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I totally agree that it just puts these feelings of emotion and experiences into your mind. I can't really figure out what this song is about-- 'cause beautiful boys gave chase and when they arch your backbone it's such a dreadful sight sounds almost like rape. Or else just jealousy. It's wicked ambiguous, you know? |
