| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Slow Cheetah Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think maybe it's about someone who's depressed and has turned to doing drugs. The chorus is sung by the drug dealer - "Slow cheetah come before my forest", the forest being the world of drugs. "Looks like it's on today" - looks like I have another customer today. "It's so euphoric no matter what they say" - it'll deliver you from your problems. Obviously going back to Anthony's addiction and maybe even Hillel Slovak. And "walking on down to the burial ground, a merry old dance with a merry old sound", in other words, giving yourself up to a life addicted to drugs and knowing you eventually might die from overdose, etc. "I've had a chance to be insane, asylum from the falling rain" - I've had a chance to get my depression diagnosed and go into therapy, but I chose not to. I'm just not sure why she is dressed like a wedding cake, that's the only thing... |

| Ohh and also... the "cain and abel" thing... I think that's referring to the idea of a "good brother" and "bad brother", as they were in the bible stories - once again going back to everybody having different perceptions, like "Nation X is evil, and we are good, and we must be heroic and save them" or whatever. | |
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – 21st Century Lyrics | 19 years ago |

If you notice, he keeps repeating phrases about twisting words. "Rotation and mutilation" are themes repeated many times, and the obvious one, "Read me your scripture and I will twist it". This song is about ideologies worldwide (and opinions in our own country) and how everyone has a different perception of everybody else. Whenever I hear the main chorus "There's a reason..." I always think of people who are stuck in the past. "Why can't things be like the good old days? When you didn't have to lock your doors or pay too much for gas?" Anthony is saying, well... we're here in the 21st century; better to embrace it and deal with it rather than think of the past. But going back to the themes of "twisting language", I think the chorus is hopeful - this is the 21st century, and we have an opportunity to change as a human species, and try to understand each other rather than twist words and point the finger. |

I always thought it was about a girl who just radiated happiness. We all know someone like that - a free spirit. Could be a child. Someone that cheers you up without fail. I love this song so much. |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Porcelain Lyrics | 21 years ago |

I think it's about a mother who is depressed, faraway, and worn out after years and years of crap from her kids/husband. "Lune" can mean a portion of a moon... but it can also mean a fit of craziness, FYI. |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Minor Thing Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i'd say it's about how all the mistakes they've made in the past aren't a big deal. including in music, the first line says that. and "he knows everything" i guess is a reference to god, they have been getting more spiritual lately right? or maybe it's a sarcastic remark about himself, like something he would hear from his fans. his fans think he knows everything but really he's a "minor king" - people look up to him now for music, but he can't compare to people like mozart (second stanza). also... To read a mind you've got to Redefine the line to make your circle sing i don't really get that line... maybe like, you have to get to know people before judging them? |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Otherside Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
It's about being hopelessly addicted to drugs and still trying to convince someone else that he's not a total waste of time. The "otherside" is the state of being high. "Turn me on take me for a hard ride Burn me out leave me on the otherside I yell and tell it that It’s not my friend I tear it down I tear it down And then it’s born again" He can't help it because it's instant gratification ("turn me on, take me for a hard ride"). The drugs "burn him out", so he tries to renounce the addiction ("yell and tell it that it's not my friend") and "tear it down" from his life, but "it's born again" and he goes back to it. "I've gotta take it on the otherside" means that the real world is too harsh and it's easier to let go by getting high. The first stanza I think is about the two sides of his personality, the one that wants to get high all the time and the other that wants to get past it. "How long will I slide?" - How long will I be addicted? "Separate my side" - again his two personalities. "I don't believe it's bad. Slit my throat, it's all I ever had" - So shoot me, this the only way I can feel better. This is my interpretation... |

| NO one sings this like anthony, and it's been redone hundreds of times (usually badly). simply an awesome song. | |
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Parallel Universe Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
yeah this is probably about being high on drugs. the lyrics kick ass. another interpretation could be, he feels like he's smarter than everybody else and thinks in a "parallel universe", and is trying to connect with someone else who thinks like that also. |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Scar Tissue Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| i think it's about a guy going out with this girl, and they've both been though a lot of pain ("scar tissue" being metaphorical), and they make each other feel better as girlfriend and boyfriend when no one else will. the band members are close in the same way, hence the music video where they're all beat up riding in a car. | |
