| I was listening to it earlier and was thinking that "Kill or Be Killed" is a contrast five years later from 2002's to "Love or to be Loved". The refrain of "It's kill or be killed" at the end of the first verse is replaced with "Would you agree times have changed?" which I'm thinking signifies the contrast of the optimism that America, and the world possessed in 2002 to the dark cynicism of 2007. I'm serious.. Objectively speaking, you cannot, and I mean CANNOT tell me that this is a good song. Because, objectively.. it's not. If you enjoy it, that's okay, but you cannot tell me that, objectively, this is a good song. This song is no more deep than 'Hollerback Girl'. Is there anything different about it? Is there anything within this song that isn't a total cliche? I mean, come on. All this 'screamo' stuff sounds the same.. Seriously. Mix in some references to 'blood', or 'cutting', add in some references to 'breathing' or 'taking a final breath', add in some references to the 'stars' or 'wishing on a star' and maybe mix in some references to cutting yourself for some optional spice. Tie in all these with some 'clever' metaphors for love (dying mostly, but drowning and burning work too) and you've got yourself a myspace hit. Honestly, somebody please convince me as to why this is a good song.. please feel free to do so. |

Well, even if this single is different, and the lyrics are sort of dumb, even though I still think they're a little tounge-in-cheek, you absolutely cannot judge an album based on this one song. I mean, look at Ben Folds' "Rockin the Suburbs", the first single 'Rockin the Suburbs' was a poppy, goofy, tounge in cheek song that sounded absolutely nothing like the rest of the album. I'm not saying Weezer is going to do the same, but I'm saying if you are assuming Make Believe is going to suck because you don't like Beverly Hills, then you need to relax and just wait for the album to judge it. |

Great song. Hearing this song without hearing the speaking part and final verse would probably give people a bad impression of it, but it's definately not another generic, meaningless song like Maladroit. This song has potential to be a huge hit, and I cant wait for Make Believe. |
