| Ben Folds Five – Brick Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This is a very beautiful yet very morbid song. I think the saddest part is when he says "can't you see it's not be your dying for" to me, it seems like he is talking to the fetus. Telling it that it wasn't his decision. I think when he refers to her as a brick it is not only supposed to express how she is bringing him down, but also how she is strong for being able to make that decision. Even though in the end it only weighs both of them down. When he says " Off the coast and i'm headed nowhere." I think he is telling us that bc of the abortion he feels removed from everyone around him and where as brefore he may have felt sure of himself and his direction in life this has made him question things. SO now he is "headed nowhere". When he says "driving back to her apt. for the moment we're alone she's alone i'm alone and now i know it." it is like he is saying that even thought they went through this together physically they are mentally and emotionally alone. They each have their own feelings and emotions that, at that point, neither of them are able to express. | |
