Okkervil River – For Real Lyrics 18 years ago
Just saw them in Austin and they performed this differently, with Will on piano and a string orchestra with background guitar playing the familiar rhythm parts softly, it really highlighted the vocal performance and seemed to fit the lyrics' mood a little better, absolutely loved it

Okkervil River – So Come Back, I Am Waiting Lyrics 18 years ago
Just a note the Tim Hardin reference, this song is also noted as "Black Sheep Boy II" on their website, which kinda makes it an obvious connection.

Just saw them this last weekend here on the UT campus complete with orchestra; they sounded amazing, played this song last and it was agonizingly beautiful

A Perfect Circle – Judith Lyrics 20 years ago
this is just a thought i had in reference to the argument that this song is against christianity/religion. Maynard sings
"Pray
To your christ, to your god
Never taste of the fruit
Never stray, never break, never
Choke on a lie
Even though he's the one who
Did this to you "

but in saying that he acknowledges "he" (in reference to God) did this to you, therefore acknowledging him as the God of the universe which wouldn't be done by anyone that was athiest, agnostic, pagan, or otherwise aside from islam, hindu, or a few others, either way for him to acknowledge the existence of God would null any argument that he hated christianity or atleast religion if not christianity in specific.

Bloc Party – Positive Tension Lyrics 20 years ago
the last minute and half of the song is probably one my favority minutes and half of any song ever made, i love the guitar riffs as well as the bass line conituation from the 1st half of the song that really ties it together so that the style is not completely lost on the song, vocals at beginning at first i found a little offensive (sound wise that is, not lyrically) but as i listened to it more and more, they have grown on me, and i really find this song to be one of the most enjoyable on the album, definately able to listen to multiple times without losing its proverbial "new car smell"

Thrice – So Strange I Remember You (Bootleg from PNC Arts Center) Lyrics 21 years ago
wow, rarely can a band redo a song and have it be so reminiscient of the orginial, yet different enough to hold your attention. This ver. is just as great as the original, i'd put it up on a level with Incubus' remake of a Certain Shade of Green into a funk version, which i also highly recommend, this CD overall is pretty kick ass, the live versions of thier songs i think add a new dimension to the lyrics, he sounds a little more personally attached to them

Thrice – Motion Isn't Meaning Lyrics 21 years ago
this is a pretty typical thrice song if there is such a thing, but it carries a meaning about inaction of words i think. It chastizes people that only say that something is wrong but don't do anything beyone that hence "motion isn't meaning" they can move thier mouths but that doesn't mean anything without action, and for these people is very easy to just get caught up in hype, and hop on the bandwagon which is symbolized by the "rhythm of the rifle repeating" its a monaker or slogan that people can hide behind yet claim to be supporting. well thats my take atleast. great CD highly recommend, redone version of So Strange I Remember You (bootleg) version is masterfully redone
