Nirvana – Negative Creep Lyrics 20 years ago
I'm not sure what Cobain meant with these lyrics, but when I listen to this song the meaning I get is from a female perspective. (makes sense, since I'm a girl) See, it's like this- Daddy's little girl, any girl really- is sweet, compliant, and nice, and sometimes I'm not in any way sweet or nice- I'm a negative creep. (something my parents have actually called me, without ever hearing this song) So if I'm a creep, I'm not really a girl anymore, now am I? I love this song, it makes me feel like I can let go of all the social mores that make my gender or sexuality define my personality.

OK, here's a theory (granted I probably interpreted this song to explain my situation at the time, but here it is anyway) Psycho Sloth really put in great imagery to back me up btw! Apple=marriage, satellites=children. I feel like this whole song is about a dangerous attraction that never really gets anywhere, but at the same time is so strong that it is threatening the author's domestic happiness. As for the Tomato/Tornado dispute- "tomato" used to be a slang term for a pretty girl; and a tornado is definitely a homewrecker, so either one could work. Like I said, this interpretation could be totally self-serving; but if I don't do it, who will?

System of a Down – Jet Pilot Lyrics 20 years ago
I have wondered about the meaning of this song ever since I first heard it. Still no Idea, however, there is a reference to a shackled old man in this song and in "Needles", he is "waiting for the tomb of some old dying man". Is this a repeated metaphor I wonder?

System of a Down – Needles Lyrics 20 years ago
Some posts have said that this song couldn't possibly be about being a junkie- but all that means is that they have never experienced drug addiction. This song is obviously about drug addiction, because it so totally feels like there is something inside you, telling you what to do. This was one of the main songs that led me to seek treatment for my addictions. (3 years clean-HEY!) As far as SOAD claiming that this song is about depleting the earth's resources on national TV, well, that is another aspect of the junkie- he will lie to family, friends, himself, so why not an interviewer?
