One of the greatest things about the song is the obvious allusion to the tale of Hansel and Gretel. The speaker's love is the person he will follow through life perhaps. The lyrics are absolutely amazing, but it's Rufus, so that goes without saying. |

This song is great. I think it really expresses a great perspective of an American who is tired of the common American belief that "god made us number 1 cuz he loves us the best." fantastic, fantastic song. |

This was inspired by the Wicked Witch of the West's death as well as Rufus's experience on a train, just observing. I think this song is mostly about observing things around you and contemplating your past, present, and future. |

This is a beautiful song that always makes me cry. Rufus is questioning what if what he is feeling is love, because at this moment the wonderful things ("long walk through Bryant Park" and "a trip to Chinatown") are gone. He now waits for his lover to attend to him, but he is too tempted by other beautiful men.
just my thought. |

Rufus said once that this song had something to do with one of his many relationships with straight men. I think he basically wants to be a part of this person's life again, because he's missing the time they shared together, but his heart has been absolutely broken.
I also think the "where I'll learn how to save, not just borrow" refers to the fact that the man was married. I'm just taking this from the Want One commentary. |

This is a beautiful song. It's written as a conversation between two lovers, one a visitor to Greece and the other a native. This is based on an affair Rufus had. He said that he would prefer the beating to dreaming in Barnes and Noble.
I definitely relate to it. |
