I agree with ShotgunXXWedding a lot on this one except I dont think the man that they are talking about was originally from America. I think he was an immigrant back in the 20's maybe durning the times when a lot of European immigrants were coming to America. The first verse is about his life in whatever European country, the second is about America( especially the part about why are you taking up my time). and the other end parts are about him dreaming to go back, maybe with money. He got his taste, and he is excited about going home with his new thoughts and money to let his hair down and take it a little bit easier. Just my opinion, escepially with the flutes and violins and bagpipes in the background. ^^ Go Sam's Town! |

lol, just to elaborate on the Las Vegas theme. I dont know how you couldve got something metaphorical about Christ in this song, but to each his own. I love Las Vegas, and it took me awahile to get this, but when it hit me it did so with the weight of a 12 tons of bricks. Total slap in the face kind of thing. "Gold lion's gonna tell me where the light is" Simple and very poetic with the intent of makeing you think something biblical. Its not. Like someone else said, its the MGM Grand's gold lion! Which is of course right beside the Luxor, that has a giant beam of light comeing out of the top. "Take our hands out of control" Like someone else said, its about gambling and other things that happen in the many casinos on the Strip. People are totally out of control, and you'll get swept away. Now to the parts that people havent commented on. "Now tell me what you saw" Thats the first thing anybody asks you when you get back from that city. "There was a crowd of seeds Inside Outside" People congregate everywhere like seeds in a flower bed. Where theres an attraction, people are crowded. Inside and Outside. "I must of done a dozen each" Several Meanings to it, kind of like the song if you dont agree with the obvious Vegas thing. I must have done a dozen each could mean something sexual, or it could mean attractions, drugs or gambling. A lot of games will have a dozen players at a table. "It was the height I grew The weight, the shell was crushing you" I thought it was high personally, but its still about the same. You think youre big shit in the city. Everybody does, its just the way people feel. The surroundings on the Strip are one big long party and it gets to you. The weight the shell thing is that it can become suffocating and uncomfortable to some people, and they are the noticable ones with their arms closed and wallet grasped firmly on the Strip. "I've been around a few" Could mean anything in Vegas, sorry no description. Use your imagination ;) My favorite Part: "This is a moon without a tide" Think about it. A moon without a tide. In the middle of the desert there is almost always a moon, but with no tide to control. "We'll build a fire in your eyes" Again with the crazy. You wanna make a fire and watch it burn, you wanna get crazy because the Strip is crazy. You wanna party and do things you wouldnt normally do. "When the colors Gettin' brighter" As night falls the lights come on, makeing the center of Vegas glow with extraordinary colors. "Cold desire" Describes 95% of the people on the strip. Everything in hard blooded, cold desire. Then we have the moaning, which somes up the wildness of everything you do in Vegas. The sex, the music. The lights, casinos, parties and possibly drugs. Its all described in this great song that brings back memories. And if you doubt the music part, listen to the song and think about it as a Western. It sounds like an old Western soundtrack. Have a nice day, and welcome to The Fabulous Las Vegas! |

I know its not about him, but if you place two and two together it could be. I remember reading something In Marilyn Manson's book that he was a tad bit obsessed with her. He used to send her gifts and letters all the time trying to get with her. I dont remember if they ended up dateing or not, but if you think about it, these lyrics kind of suit him. I could imagine him acting immature like that about a breakup, he just seems like it. -You say love is a hell you cannot bear -You got your head in the clouds And you're not at all what you seem -Cannot be stifled by your deviant ways **Those all sound like him. -First you run like a fool just to be at my side And now you run like a fool But you just run to hide And I can't abide **How he was really obsessed with her. -You don't have to be so defensive **Talk about getting defensive, he tried to burn down this one girls house. -I got my own hell to raise **Probably the one that really led me to believe this theory. That and all the lyrics kinda describe him. But of course, its probably not about Manson, its just a theory. |

| This sounds a lot like something Arab Strap would do, except its a lot less graphic and more melodic because Brian wrote it. | |

This song is sad in the fact that I can relate to it so much. My bf's becoming a drunk and we had so much planned for eachother. Buts all we ever do is dream and make plans. Though I know that more than likely its not going to come true, I still tell him to hold on because I know thats the only thing that he;s got. And when he asks me why he shouldnt give up, I tell him "Because I want you too. Dont give up on it, please..." Its really really touching and creepy that they should put out a song like this. |
