I think this is about a painter who loves the king and wants to paint his portrait. When he does, the king dislikes it and takes out the painters eyes which leaves him begging for death. The first part is the painter talking to the king the middle is the king talking to the painter and the end is the painter. Where he says so I could never be the painter of your boy I think it might be so I could never be the painter of your por- like portrait. |

@henrystnnett I also think it's about a man who loses his fiance or wife and is shattered. There really seems to be some pain in the gooold part. I believe now dissolve me means now forget about me. I think the soap part is actually "I am see through, soap slivery all so thin. As I begin rubbing lathers out your state worsens on my skin" and I think it means he is trying to forget her but the more he tries the more he thinks about her. He is dissolving (see through). |

I think this song is about how as children or young adults we observe adults being tired and unhappy. Beat down by the world they are forced to live in. You say you won't end up like them you'll take the quiet life instead but just like everyone else you are forced to grow up and go to work and live a life that will lead you to be beat down just like everyone else. Once you see that this will be your future you have your final fit your final bellyache with no alarms and no surpises (no stress of doing the 9 to 5 and all the responsibilities) note the silence part too, it's the last time without alarms or surprises, the last time there will be silence. You give in (or up) and get a crappy job that you hate like everyone else and get the house and the garden but it doesn't matter because your still beat down like everyone else. A sad song about a miserable world that is too tired to change anything. Who has the time anyway? |

The ship sinks (relationship) they both are in the lake drowning (ending the relationship) and one of there lights come up quick (they get over it/break it off) and the other is still drowning in the lake so to them the other person is rising up so high they look like a satellite/star to the other which is still stuck on the boat like a barnacle. |

This song and every other song on thirteenth step are about drug addiction. There are also some political metaphors thrown in which have confused some of you. There have been theories that the government has actually been the one to flood the streets with drugs. Supposedly something about how the illuminati controls drug supplys. This is most likely the explanation behind the swaying to the rhythm of the new world order part. It is the drug talking not to the person this time but to itself. Going back to sleep is giving in to the addiction, not quitting, and instead having your mind be numbed to reality. |

People nod off when they are on drugs specifically opiates. The person is in such denial about the situation that he thought the drug user nodding off was just the person approving whatever was happening at the time. This whole song is about how someone just lets another person close to them slip away into drugs and eventually die (turn blue) when they should have helped them. |

Seems to me to be about how you always want what you can't have and when you finally get it it's never as good as it seemed anyway. The lyrics seem to be very buddhist but it's too vague to really be sure of what it's about. |
