| Sleater-Kinney – Modern Girl Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i agree with the person above. "my whole life was like a picture of a sunny day" look how great my life was, i had everything i was supposed to want. and even though it is what a lot of the world aspires to, she still didn't feel whole. so maybe the modern life is overrated, and we're all moving in the wrong direction. | |
| Joanna Newsom – Sadie Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This song is about the mortality that we don't recognize (untill it is too late). Like a dog, who saves a bone for later, but then suddenly dies. Love what you have while you have it. | |
| Elliott Smith – Pitseleh Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
" i'll tell you why i don't want to know where you are i got a joke i been dying to tell you " one time i heard a joke i knew my old friend would appreciate but then it hit me that she won't talk to me anymore, and i can't tell her it. love...loss. |

| Modest Mouse – Baby Blue Sedan Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
"nice heart and a white suit and a baby blue sedan" is a prom, innocence, naivety. the eunuchs and henry are all anxious though for the night to be over so they can get what they are after, the reason they wore their shiny white suits.. our protagonist isn't after the same thing and he thinks this girl is different than she seems, but maybe she really does want the same thing everyone else wants, and when they finally have sex she just seems like a program, there is no passion, and she isn't unique |

| Modest Mouse – Grey Ice Water Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
beautiful song. grey ice water, alaska, arctic blast..you are trying to forget them so you isolate yourself and move north, maybe the cold will distract you from the pain in your heart.. but now you're "on the phone cutting out talking short to long distance" and the conversation is so stupid and futile but it happens anyways because we never can forget our crazy lovers |

| Modest Mouse – Ocean Breathes Salty Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
this is way silly...its sad that modest mouse has attracted fans that spend their time arguing over who is a real fan and who has liked them longer i saw the video for this song and my jaw dropped..it is the best video i have seen in a very long time. really truly fantastic. tuvia has basically said what the song is about. appreciate the ocean and its saltiness because we probably are going to die before we grow old, so don't save all the beauty of the world for later. |

| The Smiths – Panic Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| this song reminds me of elvics costello's "radio, radio" for obvious reasons. i think it's basically about being discontent with pop music. and hey, i feel the same way. the mainstream has a bad habit of being catchy music, but not necessarily good. in response to butterfingersbeck, and other explanations of songs with specific events, it seems to me that a lot of the smiths lyrics are inspired by certain events but they apply to so many levels of life | |
| The Smiths – Handsome Devil Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
sex corrupting innocence...a great image of innocence is a school child. the priests and altar boys theory is really plausible but i don't know why there would be mammary glands. what he means by mammary glands is just breasts, it's funny that he should refer to them that way, maybe it goes along with the idea of scholars/sex, or maybe it's a shot at how cold and scientific sex can sometimes be. so i'm really not sure... |
