you could die but youre never dead. spiderweb. to me thats kinda like, about reincarnation. you can die, but you're never really gone. you kinda keep goin and end up back where you started, a karmatic effect. if you imagine it, it looks kinda like a spiderweb. other thing id like to say is that almost any lyric of any song could be about drugs, but music isnt quite that shallow. |

Pabstdrinkin and zedleppin are being stupid. the real posers are people who listen to certan songs so that they look cool. zedleppin is very cool because he doesnt listen to mainstream stuff, its wrong. yeah fucking right. just listen to the songs you like, wether they're mainstream or not. and Pabstdrinkin, stairway to heaven is an awesome song.
this song, however, is a total funk song. If you listen to the intro (before the vocals) it sounds EXACTLY like a red hot chili peppers song (the kings of funk i might add) anyways its a pretty good song. not very zeppeliny, but cool cause they're tryin something thats not their regular style. |

I think that this song is a bit more literal then anyone thinks. most of the comments so far are about jesus or america. i think it is alot like the song science. its like, mother earth talking to man, maybe one of the first men. shes sayning come look at the forest (real forest) how you 'saw the product of it all' and just chopped down trees because you imagined the money you could make from paper or anything made of wood. but in that discovery you missed out on the fact that you are the son of mother earth and killing her for your own personal gain. exactly what our world has come to. Serj has hit it right on the nose. the televisions circumcisions bit i think is kinda how now that we have built all this modern day technology and fancy extras in life as whatlife is, and how scary he thought of living without them is. also, the weapons bit i think is refering directly to bombs and that, and how we are killing the earth and each other with them. my only idea is that in in the pipeline, filling in time means you've done hard work, and put in time into stupid labour to pay the bills. but it think that this song has different meanings to each of its listeners. being about the music buisness is a good one though. Strange, but everytime i hear him belt out welcome to the machine, i see this picture of a little boy standing infront of this half machine, half human guy in a top-hat and suit and his arms are spread and he's looking up at a mass of gears and wheels and axls and other moving bits of metal and what not. its actually quite eerie, but i love it. |

i tink that this song has true poetry in it, and true poetry has different meaning to whoever reads it. the literal meaning is a joker who is feeling trapped and treated unfairly in his king's castle, and then this thief sneaks in, and hes got life figured out. he's accepted the earth and all that, and come to some big philosophical revelations. then he and the joker are next spotted riding to another city which is gaurded by a watchtower. |
