You know, I love the Stones, but I really hate this song. What a poisonous, misogynist piece of crap. There's a bar that has this song on the jukebox, and when it comes on, I feel embarrassed to be there and to be a man. |

This is song is so beautiful, it has made me cry. It's about life and love and the passage of time. It is a song about beauty, fertility, and dedication. I'm listening to it right now, and it is making me very happy. |

I love this song, and I also like Let There Be More Light. Driving and spacy at the same time. It's classic britpsych- what's not to like? |

If you ever get the chance, listen to a live version of this song from '70 or '71. When they played it live, it had a long, echoes-like jam. Very spacy and very cool. The studio version doesn't even hint at this. |

Seriously, though, I don't think the lyrics are that secret or subversive. Its really about regular everyday types having fun, and how fun is in no way the property of the ruling class because even clerks and bankers can have it. A Stutz Bearcat is an old-timey racing car, probably a symbol of carefree fun. Sweet Jane is probably a girl he met one day when he was out having fun. |

"But anyone who ever had a heart
they wouldn't turn around and break it
and anyone who ever played a part
They wouldn't turn around and hate it"
Man, that line gets me every time... |

It is once again time to revisit the conclusion I came to back when I was 16 - that nobody really knew what The Beatles were talking about, anyway. |

Ok, this song brings TEARS TO MY EYES every time I hear it. Which can be quite inconvenient in the middle of a workday. But seriously, this song brings back this whole part of me. The part of me that went to rainbow gatherings and saw hippie dreams die. It reminds me of that one scene from Easy Rider where they visit the failing commune.
Although he has gone on record as saying that this song was about his departure from CSNY, I can't help but think that its about something larger and more metaphorical. |

I totally love this song. It's like, Pink Floyd does the Steve Miller Band or something.
And I love La Vallee. If it didn't have a totally anticlimatic ending, I'm sure that I would be able to find it in non-bootleg form. |

"Hiding around on the ground," huh. Wow, that makes all the difference. I used to think that the lyric was, "Having a ram on the ground," which really doesn't make any sense at all. What use would a cat have for a ram, ground-dwelling or otherwise? |

Man, I have this VHS of them performing at the Fillmore West for the San Fransisco station KQED. Great freakin' show. Anyhow, when they play this song, Rog and Dave sit down side by side and I swear, its like they have this total Simon and Garfunkel moment. Frekin' incredible. |

| Pink Floyd – Corporal Clegg Lyrics

Corperal Clegg is a great example of ... ummm.. dark wartime imagery infused with fizzy british psychedelia. A fun-filled cavalcade of Roger Waters mayhem to be enjoyed by the whole family.
Poor old Mrs. Clegg. Another drop of gin, indeed. |
