Death Cab for Cutie – Lowell, MA Lyrics
|
As a Lowell,MA native since about 5, it's nice that a prominent artist such as Ben Gibbard put us on the map.Ben is a big fan of Jack Kerouac, who was born Jean-Louis Kerouac in our "Little Canada" neighborhood. It's great to read his work and pinpoint mentally where he means. Yes, downtown, or most of the city for that matter is old, dating back to the 1800s but downtown is as vibrant as it ever was, with nightclubs, bars, restaurants the Tsongas Arena foe concerts and other events, and the ballpark a couple blocks over for The Spinners baseball team. Sure there are "tough" parts like around the bars on Central st. at night, or around Appleton or Elliot St, where the vagrants like to congregate near "Appleton Liquors," But there are plenty of new condos being erected as I type. "The Acre" is probably the worst neighborhood. No offense to those there, but It's true. Like any city, there are rich parts like Upper-Belvidere with masion-like houses, contrasting with the old mills and the smokestacks from the factories that add to the skyline downtown. |

The Who – Bell Boy Lyrics

This is another tune from Quadrophenia. Jimmy sees The Ace Face, the leader of the Mods in his area, now is a boot-licking bell boy instead of the rebel he claims to be. JImmy's herois just a facade. |

White Lion – When The Children Cry Lyrics

Aside from it being written when I was a kid, this is a pretty downer of a song. But this song is pretty much about the older generation saying sorry for all the trouble we caused and we hope you can make it better.
This CD however was released on Oct. 25, 1990. Communism was all but dead, Germany was reunified, and just over a year later, the USSR disbanded from overspending on nukes in the arms race.
THis song does have feeling today and the guitar work is decent. But a better song of this type is Winds of Change by The Scorpions—native Germans that lived under the Berlin Wall's shadow. |
