| Kid Rock – American Badass Lyrics

"I've set up and turned out this state with my own two hands" is supposed to be " I've set up and torn down this stage with my own two hands." I'd assume Mr. Rock is trying to say that he has paid his dues as a musician by being hands-on.
Also, it should read, "Punk rock's the Clash." And, yes, the Clash was a great punk band. Can't agree more. |

Didn't think it needed one, as it is fairly straightforward. However, since you seem to need an interpretation, here goes: A guy gets a girl pregnant. They are ready to marry, but the guy gets scared and takes off. The desperation of her situation gets to the girl, so she takes her child down to the river with the intention of dropping it in and letting it die. Instead, she thinks better of it, takes the baby home, and lets go of the past by hocking her wedding ring and dress.
There you go. Fairly easy stuff. |

Unless Alabama covered this, this is actually a Mel McDaniel song. Regardless, it's obviously a song about a typical idyllic southern Saturday night. I have actually had nights like this, except for the possum in a sack stuff. |

This song is a "thank you" to all of the hardworking blue collar people who are extremely underappreciated in our country today. A basic song that just happens to be fabulous. |

A beautiful song, artfully done by a legendary artist, that actually tells a story. It's pretty self-explanatory when it comes to the meaing. I must say, also, that it is a shame that people on here don't appreciate the artists who paved the way for the artists who are out there today. |

I didn't mean that the song was about lesbians; rather, I meant that the fact that she was a lesbian gave the song a different feel to those of us who knew about it. Much like the song "Smokin' in the Boys Room" would be viewed differently if, say, Dolly Parton sang it. |

They were not almost always black. In fact, the more colorful the zoot suit, the more stylish it was considered to be. It wasn't unusual to see a yellow zoot with an orange hat and a green shirt. When it came to zoots, the gaudier the better. |

Missed an entire verse there. Goes as follows:

I was educated at Woodstock
When I start loving, whoa I can't stop |

It actually isn't "Cousin Billy", the lyrics are as follows:
"When they gathered round and started talking,
That's when Billy would take me walking . . ."
So, no, he isn't her cousin.
This son is about someone's first love, yes, and there's even more behind it, since Dusty was a actually a lesbian, which was kept a secret for quite a long time, even though she and her partner, a librarian, were together for many years. That knowledge puts a different slant on the song altogether. |

Uh, actually, RoxyFemme84 is right. The zoot suit riot in California had absolutely nothing to do with supposed patriotism; it was completely about racial discrimination. I'm glad, also, that someone else caught on that Zoot Suit Riot actually references that unfortunate incident. |

This song is about a man whose wife gets angry about his not making enough money, so, apparently, she then decides to either (a) cheat on him or (b) prostitute herself. His response is to kill her, which he feels that she deserves, which causes him to be sentenced to death by the hangman jury. |

My interpretation of this song is as follows: The singer is in love with a woman who has a boyfriend already, maybe even a husband. This husband/boyfriend is probably not good to her, perhaps he even treats her as if he were her father instead of her lover. The singer wants to step in and be her lover. |

Dude, I'm from eastern Kentucky, I'm 32, and I've listened to country and bluegrass since I was old enough to listen to anything. The term badonkadonk is from a rap song. I'd rather listen to "Ten Feet Tall and Bulletproof" than this garbage. |

This song is too idiotic for words. Honestly. I can't even hear the damn title without gritting my teeth in agony. It's quite obvious that Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, etc., will never be replaced by the trash that today's country consists of. Hell, I'd be happy if they were even half as good. Instead, you get crap like this. |

| Sheryl Crow – Ode To Billy Joel Lyrics

Actually, the author of the song has refused to say exactly what it was about, preferring it to remain an enigma. There is speculation that the object thrown from the bridge was a child, a ring, a doll, and too many other things to mention.
In the movie, the object thrown off the bridge is a doll. Billy Joe killed himself because of a homosexual incident that made him doubt his sexuality. The female lead allowed townfolk and her own family to believe that Billy Joe had gotten her pregnant to preserve his memory and protect it against any rumors of homosexuality. In truth, the young couple did not have sex.
Also, according to the movie, the mother's depression is a result of her husband dying so suddenly.
What is the real meaning of this song? No one will ever know. We can only guess and say what it means to us. |

Believe what you want. After all, RS is an absolutely unimpeachable source, right? Turns out that what I read said that the entire song wasn't the result of one concert but was worked on over the course of an entire tour. So, no, the song you hear on the CD was not made in its entirety in one night; it was in fact edited and added to over the course of a tour. |

| Waylon Jennings – Dukes of Hazzrd Theme Lyrics

Dear GOD this isn't even the entire song. You missed an entire verse:
"I'm a good old boy
I know my mama loves me
But she don't understand
They keep-a showin' my hands
And not my face on TV."
The last verse, for those who never watched the TV show, refers to how you always see the narrator (Waylon's) hands playing the guitar, but you never actually see who it is.
Waylon, aka Waymore (as in "Waymore's Blues"), aka Watashe (his nickname given to him by Hank Williams, Jr.) deserves way better than this. He had about a thousand songs in his repetoire better than this one, yet this is the one that the moronic new generations will listen to over and over and feel is his only claim to fame? |

Actually, it's been stated in numerous interviews with the director, actors, etc., that it was just artistic license in the movie that this song was improvised on the spot and that it didn't come about that way. Regardless, the man was still a genius. |

This song is more brilliantly written than almost anything I've ever come in contact with. Even without music, this is sheer poetry with its finger on the heartbeat of the blue collar working class. Lovely, inciteful, intelligent stuff, much better than Stairway to Heaven, even. |
