Dream theater never went uphill or downhill, they are just a band that explores different types of music, like heavy (train of thought) and softer ones like images and words. Heavy or soft thier music is undoubtedly the best around. They have the voice for the heavy songs unlike most metal bands and they have the awesome music behind the lighter songs, what more could you ask for in a band? Wish they would tour in the UK! |

how the fuck does liking this song make you racist? only really lame chavs and things like it like music just cus of the lyrics, i have no idea what the lyrics mean but i love it. i would never have thought the lyrics were about racism or whatever it's about. i dont exactly see people going on queen - we are the champions and saying "you only like this song cus you're a cocky arrogant bastard." You lot think too much and over analyse, and take everything too personally. |

i'm not good at explaining lyrics but this tells me someone is living life on the edge, you need to be sure before you fall in love. you can fall in love with someone who you shouldnt be with yet still think you are made for each other. i'm surprised no one has commented on this song actually, but i spose the only place most people have heard of alan parson's project is off austin powers heh. |

I'm gonna have to disagree with mung bean and muzzy here. Muzzy, they did not go down hill since ToT. But then again mung bean, DT have gone down hill with Tot, u are obviously gay and just wrong. All in all this is a nice song. I think its about time travel. |

the lyrics are a bit disturbing, when i listen to this song i feel like i want to die a horrible death. I think the coolest thing about this song is the lyrics, especially when it goes "[instrumental]" it's so emotionally moving. |

The moskva is a nazi club. And down to gorky park is a hebrew metaphor (when translated into hebrew) for "til i die". "an august summer night" this line implies it was in the northern hemisphere since it is winter in august in countries such as australia. So this line narrows the nazi club down to about 74 countries, germany maybe? or russia?
"The world is closing in"... too right, they've no where to go. No idea what the chorus is about, sounds good tho. "walking down the street/distant memories/are buried in the past forever" - this suggests that people may have forgave for the world war. the lyrics that follow are "i follow the moska/down to gorky park" again making a point, but he wont forgive he will keep on fighting. The rest of the song doesn't make much sense. |

Hmm, that was a long read, u have all just basically said it was about syd, no its not, its about drugs, no you're wrong it's about syd. Maybe, but thats not how i see it. Gray, sewing, nice idea but thats just taking the piss really. Cracked me up anyhow. But i dont think this song is as simple as drugs or childhood or syd. Its is trying to make a point about homosexuality and how they were treated back in the 60s.
The first verse is in the present where the psychiatrist is talking to the homosexual patient, asking if his brain was right if it was working alright, hence "hello, is there anybody in there?" because homosexuality was seen as a disorder back then. "Come on, now/i hear you're feeling down" basically is the psychiatrist talking to the patient, as the patient has come to see the psychiatrist because he feels sad for his sexuality. "well i can ease your pain/get you on your feet again". The 'pain' described here is is the pain you get after taking it up the ass. and “get you on your feet again”, well that just means the psychiatrist knows how to cure him.
"there is no pain" - the doc has obviously seen rocky, which is quite a good film. And he is trying to ease the pain using psychological methods, just by telling him, no pain.
"your lips move but i cant hear what you are saying" - the doc has little respect for the patient and basically just didn't hear what he said. What the patient actually said was "When I was a child I had a fever /My hands felt just like two balloons /Now I've got that feeling once again /I can't explain, you would not understand /This is not how I am" - so he is just saying that this is not how he wants to be, please help.
"ok, just a little pin prick" - the doc is taking the piss really. He is saying that since anal sex is “just a little pin prick”. "but you may feel a little sick" - back in the days when homosexuality was considered abnormal, therapy methods included making the patient puke by locking them in a room where they were left to feel disgusted and feeding on thier own excrement. "i do believe its working good" yea the doc thinks its working...
and then i think gilmour ran out of lyrics so he just basically repeated the chorus or something but with a little change in lyrics so it doesn't look like he ran out. So there you have it, over 100 comments and none were interpreted in a sensible manner, u lot digust me. |
