| Portugal. The Man – Plastic Soldier Lyrics | 12 years ago |

I think that a lot of the songs on this album have little meaning without taking the other songs in context. There is so much lyrical repetition from song to song, especially front and back. I feel like its the most organized album I've listened to in a while. The most obvious instance of that being Plastic Soldier, the 1st song, ending: "You can drift along You've got the time The rest of us will live and die Like plastic soldiers Only growing older" And Smile, the last song, ending: "I'd like to try to forget the times have changed And we all live and die Like plastic soldiers never growing older" There's an obvious change in mood, and a lot going on in between. My favorite being the concept of "It's not that I'm evil" (Creep in a T-shirt and Evil Friends) at the start, to "I just want to be evil" (Purple Yellow Red and Blue) at the end. What a wonderful album, and the best birthday gift ever. |
