It seems like no one can agree whether or not the girl dies...it seems to me that this song is about the time immediately following the accident...and it's her fate is still up in the air. The song is about the anguish of being seperated from a loved one and the possiblity of losing that person forever. It's bittersweet because of the memories that he has, mingled with likelihood that they will never be together again. My favorite part is the chorus: The plans I make still have you in them 'Cause you come swimming into view And I'm hanging on your words like I always used to do The words they use so lightly I only feel for you I only know because I, carry you around in the background I'm in the background |

I think the song is about addiction, whether it's to alcohol or drugs. I think sometimes SJ is writing in the 1st person and other times he seems to look at addiction from the perspective of the people who are hurt by addicts: I walk home alone with you And the mood you're born into Sometimes you let me in And I take it on the chin Can we get clean again I want to know Can we get clean again So I wonder if the two people that the song focuses on are in a codependent relationship? |

I think Crystal Baller has to do with the future...he wants to be her fortune teller...not her drug dealer. I particularly like this part: Wanna be your diamond ring (some day you must awhile some days) The one I never gave you (some day you must awhile some days) And the promise that it brings (some day you must awhile some days) Let me be your Crystal Baller (some day you must awhile some days) I will show you everything (some day you must awhile some days) It seems like he's talking about relationship mistakes he has made in the past that he wishes he could take back. That's what I got out of it...but I think that 3eb's songs are great for that reason, they mean something different to everyone. |
