I believe only Scottish people can understand the true meaning of this song. Having watched Idlewild grow from the early captain days you can see there music has swung from shouty-postmodern-rock to a balanced scottish influenced folk rock band. I'm not talking runrig or capercaille but for instance in this song...when I hear the first half of it, it reminds me of driving through the hills of scotland, white passing place signs, cattle grids, huge poles at the side of the road (for when its snowing), holidays in remote cottages where you are exempt from everything. No-one can relate to this unless your scottish. I also have not just written this cause it's rabbie burns day ken? |

Rennald...So easily confused. I'm not having a go at the band I'm having a go at the people who listen to this imperial nonsense. There is a huge murder case in Scotland right now about a 14 year old girl who was raped and murdered (she was a goth). The accused is 16 years old (also a goth) and they have found shed loads of material in books and computers and DVD's with Cradle of Filth lyrics and Marlyn Manson Lyrics inciting death on people you (apparently) love. I'm not blaming these guys for writing this shit but you ( and many others) as a human being should wise up to the fact that these people are actors...(eminem said it himself) they talk about incredibly stupid things like killing your family. There is no need for it and people like yourself should change your ways and lighten up. |

You clearly wouldn't be interested in posting things here if you didn't have a remote interest in the band or this song, regardless of your thoughts on 'Polaris' the band. You are the one who is being naive by trying to get people to listen to other bands, people who in turn have come to this website to post things about there favourite band, etc.... the clue is at the begining of the chorus. "then you tell me" meaning someone is telling him.
Jimmy eat world are a band and therefore are forever touring the world. perhaps the song is from jimmy eat worlds perspective and the chorus is from someone elses perspective. ie, a loved one. just a thought!!!!!! |
