Natalie Imbruglia – Butterflies Lyrics 20 years ago
Natalie Imbruglia has said that this song is about liking someone, that feeling of "butterflies in your stomach." But at the same time, it's feeling really nervous whenever that person's around. By admitting to yourself that you like them, it's like you're giving them the power to hurt you (in case they reject you), it's giving them control. I think it's a really beautiful but painful representation of that feeling

Jewel – I Won't Walk Away Lyrics 20 years ago
What, nobody’s commented on this?
I love that it’s so simple, so true. In the first verse you can almost picture her walking home under a lonely street lamp, and we know she’s had a past, like everyone: “Time can bruise, violet indigo,”...that’s beautiful. But all she feels like doing is going home, where he is. The chorus has cheesy lyrics but they’re so simple and so honest that it makes it really beautiful.

The Cardigans – You're The Storm Lyrics 20 years ago
Also, the first line is "Oh it's healing, bang bang bang." The one on this site isn't right.

The Cardigans – You're The Storm Lyrics 20 years ago
It's a girl who craves the "storm" she has with this guy. My best friend and I used to argue a lot and challenge each other, and when we started dating we just became really sweet all the time and wonderful. It was nice, and it made me happy, and he was a great boyfriend, but the sweetness is not what I started dating him for, it's not why I became crazy about him in the first place. The way we used to challenge each other, the "stormy" but solid relationship that we had at first, the way we balanced each other out together, THAT'S what I believed in - "I like the sweet life and the silence, but it's the storm that I believe in."
I love the line "And if you want me, I'm your country." I would be perfectly happy watching as he tears into my life and takes me over - I want to feel out of control, I want him to bring me to life that way, with that passion and intensity that we had at first.

This song is one of my favorites ever. It's so beautiful.

Dido – Don't Leave Home Lyrics 20 years ago
The drug theory is pretty creepy...whether or not that's the case, looking at it from just a girl-boy perspective, I don't think it's possessive, just really sweet. The "You don't need other friends anymore" isn't a threat, it's a statement to describe what she feels at that moment - at that moment, all she feels like doing is being with him, like children almost, happy. "Your best friend I've come to be" - they've become really close and she doesn't want him to leave, but she's not tying him down or anything, it's just the way they feel, it's sweet.

Dido – Stoned Lyrics 20 years ago
This is one of my favorite Dido songs...I love her lyrics. She wants him to be more and to feel more for him but she can't when he's being the way he's being. "Cuz I'm bored of hanging out in your cold"
I love "if you won't let me fall for you"

Dido – See You When You're 40 Lyrics 20 years ago
I really agree with shadowangel about this being a sort of wake-up call, when you stop thinking irrationally and just simply look at it objectively. She's driven round in circles and ended up at his house, and she suddenly realizes that she doesn't remember any of the reasons why she would still want to be with him - "Cuz I want, tonight what I've been waiting for - But I've seen, tonight, what I've been warned about."
And then when she sees that, "I've seen, tonight, how could I waste my time"
What I love about this song is how it's not malicious, it's just that she's realized, and she knows she's not going to be coming back to him

Dido – Mary's In India Lyrics 20 years ago
sorry midnight_angel, there's a limit to how deeply you can interpret a song, i think this song can't really be as deep as the alcoholism thing.

Dido – This Land Is Mine Lyrics 20 years ago
It's beautiful. I agree with jamieanastacia - "From behind these walls I hear your song...the sweetest I have heard." She can't believe how sweet everything is, and how she's able to feel again - "could it be that I've been touched and turned? Oh Lord, please, finally"
But she isn't going to throw herself into it, she'll let him in but still maintain that "this land is mine", even though she'll let him in
